Let's add a little folkloric accent to our belly dance. Hi, I'm Johanna Krynytzky with
Hip Expressions Bell Dance Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida. A nice accent we can add to our belly
dance is our heel drop, add that to our foot work . So what a heel drop is, if your feet
are flat on the floor, knees are bent, belly button's pulled in, chest is lifted, shoulders
are back and down, the heel drop is letting the heels drop down to the floor. Notice my
knees stay bent, I'm not locking my knees, so I'm not jarring my whole body. Keep the
knees bent, and you have a nice little dropping accent, OK. You can step back, drop, step,
drop. There's lots of different ways you can use this. You want to add in on to your ticka,
ticka, ticka, tick, pop. Right, very nice in drum solos. Ticka, ticka, ticka, ticka,
ticka, pop. Smooth movement, and drop. Smooth movement and drop, so you can use it with
your sharp movements, accent the end of the phrase, or a smooth movement, and accent the
end of the phrase. So it's a nice little way to give this little bit of feeling and level
change, and it pulls down, pulls down in to the earth. A lot of belly dance accents will
happen down, alright. So, practice that in front of a mirror, add it in to little combination,
and it'll work out great. I'm Johanna Krynytzky with Hip Expressions Belly Dance Studio, helping
you to belly dance.
