Hi, my name is Bella, I live in Chicago, and I have decided to take the course on Public
Speaking because I think that the way you speak to people, the way your produce an idea,
the way you present yourself, the way you present anything to people who don't know
you or people who do know you but don't know what you're saying, is a very very important
skill to have, because the way you present something, you know in the end, will absolutely
have an effect on people. Whether it is good or bad, and you can learn to control the way
that people react to what you say, and the way people listen, or- or don't listen is
something I wish i could have, something that is very very great that I cannot wait to build
up to. So, for my example of who I think is a very good speaker, ah so cliche but I actually
would have to say MArtin Luther King, Jr. He lived in a time of black hatred, no one
cared what a black person had to say, right? No one wanted to hear it. "You're black? I
don't wanna hear it" That's what it was. So for one black man to come out of nothing,
and have a revolution begin, have people listen to what he is saying, and not just a few people-
millions. To have such a huge impact on the world and the social/political system and
the way people listen to you...that is power. It all comes from the way you speak, the words
you say. I forgot exactly who it was that said this quote, so don't quote me on it-somebody
else- that said "It's not the tool that is used, it is the skill of the artist that determines
the beauty of the piece." It was Martin Luther King, Jr.'s skill that determined his fate
as a great, powerful speaker, as a, as a person of great influence, infinite love, and just
power, really. I can't wait for the course to keep going.
