MALE SPEAKER: Today on Urban Gardener, a Williamsburg roof
deck with a killer view.
One of the things that jumps out is how much space they
have out here.
Space in New York is a luxury, and one of the things that
they have done is have a nice open outdoor room.
One of the things that you can really do with a nice open
space like this is entertain.
The plantings are in the corners, so it softens the
really hard edges there.
These containers are designed really well.
They're appropriate to the planting, they're appropriate
to the size.
They're also grouped together in a really nice way.
All of the colors complement each other and come together.
Really nice space, but it really is all about the view.
We've got the whole skyline of not only New York, but of lots
of Brooklyn right here.
This is an awesome borrowed landscape.
Take it all in, baby.
DANA: Been here for about eight or nine years.
The apartment was actually under construction when we
moved in, and this was the last thing to get done.
So we've probably had the deck put together for about six or
seven years.
We have a child, and so every year we have a swim party up
here with a blow up pool and sprinklers and
all sorts of things.
MALE SPEAKER: I've noticed these Woolly Pockets up here,
which are really cool.
You said that they were for indoor or outdoor use, right?
DANA: Uh huh.
They're easy to plant.
You just have to water them every day.
There's a reservoir there that holds the water.
And I suppose if you over watered, it would drain up and
over the top.
MALE SPEAKER: I see.
DANA: You're actually supposed to water the wool on the back,
and then it gets soaked up from the plant.
We have windows right there, and my thought was that during
the winter time when everything's dead, you could
see the few things that are alive and green as you looked
out over the deck.
The thing that I like the most about being on the deck is you
look around, and you feel like you're in the middle of New
York City, but you're not.
You still have some privacy.
You still have relaxation.
But you're not completely out of it.
MALE SPEAKER: Thanks Dana, for joining us.
It's been really nice to talk to you.
DANA: Thank you.
MALE SPEAKER: See you next time on Urban Gardener.
FEMALE SPEAKER 1: Do you know that we have more subscribers
than Donald Trump's channel?
FEMALE SPEAKER 2: No.
FEMALE SPEAKER 1: Mm hmm.

FEMALE SPEAKER 2: Indeed.
