Hey, Hikosaemon here
Long time no see
Today is going to be my first catch up vlog in a while
So hang around
Hey, how's it going?
So, first up, sorry that I haven't made a vid in a while
Lately I'm busy looking after my son, and doing this and that
I never seem to have the time to sit down and make a blog like this at home
On the other hand though, because of that, one thing I've started doing on my way home
Is I'm enjoying taking photos of Tokyo
It's a lot of fun and I post the pics up to Flickr
I've had fun posting photos there fairly regularly
Also, I have enjoyed writing short blogs in English during the day
I mean to write a bit more in Japanese as well
I've also been having fun using Twitter, which I can do on the train in the morning
If you're interested in keeping up, feel free to follow
Most recently, my last video was a new thing I'm doing called "Two and a Half Oyajis"
The basic plan is to record a quick chat with Victor once a fortnight and post it
But I'd also like to make fun vids recording conversations with other people on Skype in the same way
There's also a channel that I've been wanting to recommend lately
The Two and a Half Oyaji thing is really just an on the fly thing
But this channel BCPodcasts actually makes planned vids talking about Japanese news and events
The vids are really well polished
But they only seem to get around 30 views for each vid
That seems a real shame, it's a good channel
And it played some part in inspiring the project Victor and I started
So if you are interested in hearing about what is going on in Japan in English, go check it out
Lately there have also been lots of new partners
I've been having trouble keeping up
There's Findmeinkurume, Nihonjenn, Fabitapunk...
There are lots and if I try to cover them all, I know I'm going to leave some out
So I'll leave it there for now
So, even though I've been terrible with making and keeping up vids, lots of people are keeping things going with cool vids, which is great
The other big news lately is about Creative Commons, which I'm always going on about
It has now come to YouTube
Maybe you have noticed that when you upload a video, you can choose to keep the regular license, or select a CC license
So long as the video is entirely made by you and you don't use any third party music or anything
Then people can use the YouTube Video Editor to find and remix your video
You can use that video in lots of different ways to make something new
This has lots of possibilities
I want to play with it a bit myself going forward
This is going to enable people to make fun mashup MAD type videos without infringing copyrights
So if you have old videos you don't mind contributing
If you go and change the license on them to Creative Commons, it can be used by others in all kinds of ways
So think about contributing your own videos yourself
I'm planning to do a vlog on how to use the editing tool to do this
So hang around
As for me, I'm well
I loooove hanging out and looking after my son, so he takes priority over everything lately
He's growing up fast now
I may introduce him to you all in a vid sometime
But I'm doing well
It's going to be a rough summer ahead in Tokyo
But Tokyo is still thriving as always
The bad stuff can't be helped but everyone is just getting on with things
So that's it, just a short one today
So I'll try to make these a bit more regularly
I love interacting with you guys on these vids
There is one more thing...
Victor is coming to Tokyo on June 25th
It will be a Saturday Night
I seem to have been made the gathering organizer for that
We haven't picked a place yet
But when a place and time is settled, you can find out from my Twitter
It's the same username as on YouTube - twitter.com/hikosaemon - that's the best way
I'll put the details on that
But I'll also put a vid up with the info ahead of time as well
So if you'd like to join for some drinks, fun conversation and hang out
It will be somewhere around Roppongi like the Hub, where you can drink standing up
I'm sure there will be lots of YouTubers there to hang out with
So mark June 25th in your calendar and stand by for more info
And that's it...
Talk to ya again soon, PEACE
