Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency is our state agency that works with individuals
with disabilities, helping them go to work, and Shaw Industries has been a great partner
in helping us find appropriate employees for them.
Keith Lumpkin, please come to the office.
Keith Lumpkin, please come to the office.
They contacted us about Keith. They came in and actually sat down and talked with Keith and myself, took a look at the work environment we had here
and the challenges that we were having to deal with with Keith's hearing impairment.
I think that Shaw goes above and beyond to help individuals.
I think it's a wonderful environment for those individuals. I would say that there's nothing that anybody should
let limit them just because they have an impairment of some form.
You really see that there is a great pool, a very high potential pool of people, who have barriers to employment
and we're trying to break those barriers down.
Part of realizing people's full potential is recognizing that everyone is different,
and accommodation to provide support to someone with a recognized disability is really no different than adjusting our managing style or how we communicate.
We look at it as another dimension of diversity at Shaw.
Shaw has been great to help us. Where the job leads are. Where they're hiring. What plants are looking for.
What shift. What particular skill set that they're looking for to fill that job.
Through their efforts, I've gained a wonderful employee. Keith does not let anything slow him down.
He's an excellent operator at the facility.
The deaf or the hard of hearing or anyone with a disability wants to be successful in their life. They want to support their family.
They want to enjoy the things that we enjoy.
For them to have a job is just as important as for us to have a job.
