The economical thought at Caritas in veritate
with Sergio Morisoli
POVERTY AND CRISIS OF THE LAW
The poverty is always less material
and always more "spiritual"
that means the poverty today is really
the isolation of the person,
of the individual, the convinction that
someone can succeed only if he's alone
the convinction to be enough for himself,
the incapacity to ask when we need something.
That means, this is really a phenomena
which brings to poverty,
but first of all educative and cultural,
therefore I agree and share that
the number one problem it’s neither finance
nor science, technology, nor anything else,
nor globalization, but really educative and cultural,
in the sense that in the institutions
in charge of doing, to produce culture,
education and law, the schools,
the universities, the parliaments,
making a law in a certain way,
instead of another, influences a lot,
if then the individual will be alone,
it will be only him in front of the State,
he will be in a situation of necessity,
where somebody will intervene on his place,
and this other.
It doesn't seem but legislate today,
afterall this Pope said it already
in an excellent debate with Habermas
some years ago,
it’s urgent return to understand
which is the source of the law.
Because, if the law is only a question,
a game of arithmetic majorities,
what is right today could be wrong tomorrow,
what is right in the morning,
in the afternoon it could be overturned.
So, where is the real source of the law?
Therefore those places in charge of making law,
make culture, make education,
are certainly in crisis.
