What She Said
by Rhea Makiaris (with inspiration from John Massé)
This morning I cruised on into a parking lot
In search of the closest available spot
There it was in the first row
On the passenger side
But my friend said, "No way man!"
"Your truck is too wide"
"It's too big, you'll never fit!"
My neighbor was renovating his house next door
All that hammering, racket and noise---couldn't take anymore...
So, I went over to persuade him
As polite as I could be
"Look I know you're home-improving, but could you take it easy?"
"You're banging WAY too hard!"
Ohhhh, that's what she said!
Hey now, hey now, that's what she said
An audition came up for the lead in a Broadway show
The pressure was on; the director gave me the go
I knew I had to impress him; I could feel my heart sink
Was prepared, but really nervous and all I could think---
"This is huge! Can't blow it now!"
At the airport again, on my way out of town
Set my luggage down, but security gave me a frown
"Are you aware it's illegal? C'mon everyone knows...
"Not to block the exit. I don't care where it goes....
"You just can't put it there!"
Ohhhh that's what she said!
Hey now, hey now, that's what she said!
In the dark at the front door I fumbled through my keys
So many attached to this ring, you wouldn't believe
I did my best to maneuver
but it was out of my control
The first key I attempted, shoved in the wrong hole
It's stuck! It won't come out!
ohhhh that's what she said!
Ohhhh that's what she said!
hey now, hey now, that's what she said
