Today, we would like to show you how easy it is to install the RockStar
hitch mounted mudflaps. Please be aware that different truck models may
require additional steps. Use the provided instructional manual to
determine the best installation procedure.
First, gather the tools needed for the install. Step one, insert two long
carriage bolts through the clamp halves with the flat washer, lock washer,
and nut.
Step two, orientate the flat surface of the clamp assembly with the
backside of the frame. So the nuts on the long bolts face down. Attach the
clamps to the frame with the four short carriage bolts, flat washers, lock
washers so the nuts face the vehicle. Leave all the bolts loose for now.
Step three, slide the ball mount through the frame and clamps. Lift the
assembly up and insert the ball mount into the receiver tube. Secure the
pin and clamp.
Step four, position the support *** on the bumper step and push the
frame tight against the bumper until both of the final bumper clamps are
tight against the vehicle bumper.
Step five, finger tighten the short carriage bolts on the clamp assembly.
Next, ensure the frame is level with the bumper. Push down firmly on the
bumper step on top of the frame and ball mount. Then make sure the vertical
face of the frame is plumb and tighten the top bolts only equally on each
side.
Step six, tighten both of the long bolts to secure the frame to the ball
mount. Torque both of the long bolts to thirty-two foot pounds.
Step seven, tighten the bottom carriage bolt equally on each side. Then
torque all four of the short bolts to thirty-two foot pounds.
Step eight, bolt the rubber flap to the frame using the three carriage
bolts, lock washers, and nuts. Tighten these nuts until the washers start
to compress into the rubber flap.
