Oh my god, there is going to a gay player on the NFL! This is a big deal, monumental.
Not really. It's just football. Whether you're gay or not, it shouldn't matter in the end.
You wear your team colors and you try to beat the other team. Easy as that. Sexuality shouldn't
matter one bit or even scar the sport. How embarrassing is it that a talented and well
deserved player has to explain himself and the NFL is "not prepared" for an openly gay
player. Not prepared? What kind of extra steps or precautions are needed? The game should
go on like normal and his sexuality shouldn't have been such a big national news in the
first place. What are they worried about? I dont get it. Are players and officials nervous
about having a gay player on the field? Or is it because Football is a man's man game.
God football culture is so dumb.
I don't get why the media is STILL making a big deal out of people coming out. Maybe
the NFL wouldn't be so upset if they knew that instead of focusing on the game, this
is all the media will be focusing on until next season. I feel bad for the rest of the
players in his draft class that won't get any attention because of something that we're
making into a big deal that shouldn't be anymore. How offensive would it be if they made a big
deal out of a player's race? Let's start to think of sexuality in the same terms, shall
we?
Football culture is dumb and I think that's the main reason we're still having this discussion
about a gay player coming out. I don't think they fear him on the grid iron but I think
it's the locker room. People like Jeremy Shocky said, I dont ever want to see a gay guy in
the locker room. A lot of people have been you know tweeting some football players. Not
sure how serious you take a tweet, how they won't like to be with a gay guy in the locker
room. It's like they assume every gay man is attracted to every man. It's like are you
attracted to every woman you meet? No. So gay guys aren't just attracted to every man.
It makes no sense or logic. Oh I dont want him looking at me in the locker room. Even
if he does, he's probably not even attracted to you at all. Do you think that laws of attraction
works differently for gays and such? It's only a big deal because it's the football
culture. It's this over-masculine man's man thing and they feel, I guess they feel threatened
in a weird way but I cant wait til we have more gay players. It doesn't have to be a
big deal. Since people still feel uncomfortable, it will be a big deal.
