Hi guys!, we are going to draw a manga version from a real person.
I choosed the famous celebrity Dakota Fanning.
Don't forget that you can see this video in HD.
First, note the major particularities in the face of the person to draw.
When I pay attention in Dakota, her eyes seem singular, almond and upward,
the angles of the mandible
and her discreet smile.
Draw a tangent line in the bottom of a circle and
two lateral lines that curve over themselves when they reach the tangent
and finish jointing to setup the chin. After that, trace a horizontal midline
inside of the circumference and until this high will arrive the eyes.
We do it as Dakota eyes, almond and upward, but much bigger,
to make it a typical manga. Now, draw the iris, rounded and
left oriented. The nose and mouth as simple lines.
Outline the face a little bit and so draw the neck.
After draw the pupils
as incomplete circumferences,
trace the eyes contour and start drawing the hair.
One way to do it youthful and fresh is drawing separate wicks,
some thicker, another tinner and another ones as blowed by the wind.
Draw her eyebrows well arched and don't so far from eyes.
Now start drawing the clothes.
Make an opened jacket,
giving it some details as buttons, and then trace the outline
of the drawing with a black pencil. I am using a supracolor.
Now, let's do the hair.
Use a brown pencil to trace the lines, some thicker than anothers.
You don't need to to use a dark brown, because Dakota hair
is very light.
Remember, the lines have to follow the contour and the volume
of the hair, or it will not look natural.
After, with a light yellow pencil, start coloring all hair,
just keeping some places without colouring to simulate brigthness.
To color the skin, we go to use 3 colors:
purple to the base of the shadow (I used to coloring the contour
of the face and neck with this one), So, I will give a layer
of dark peach over the purple, overflowing a little bit,
and I finish it with a
light peach, redrawing the colors proyecting them a few more to the midface.
We will use a dark blue to the pupils
and the top of iris, I keep
a light at pupil level
and then I draw the center and botton of the iris
with a lighter blue.
I finish it all
smoothing the colors of the borders with a light blue
and making some lines in the botton of iris with the dark blue pencil.
The lines must be thin and with same curve of the iris.
I'll use two colors to the clothes,
a dark gray and another lighter. I'll will obviously use the dark gray
to do the shadows as
in the inside of the neck, to the zones around of cloth details
(as buttons, seams, folds) and to that ones close to the hair. After,
I smooth this all with the light gray, even recoloring the dark gray parts.
Again I retrace all the contours with a well sharpened black pencil.
I use a golden pencil to make some more details in the hair.
After all, I fix or redraw some lack details.
