If we were to do to our pets what they do on fur farms, like electrocute them and skin
them alive, we would be charged with a felony crime. But because it is happening on a fur
farm, it’s for fashion. I just don’t understand how we can, in our heads, compartmentalize
two different kinds of animals. It’s horrendous, and it’s disgusting, and it shouldn’t
be done just because it’s fashion. Treating animals like this and being so cruel, and
inhumane to them, it’s never okay. It saddens me that it happens in the world in so many
different places. No matter where it’s happening. When it comes to feeling fear, and pain, and
loneliness, we’re all the same. And when you think about even that little tiny trim
of fur on your gloves or on your collar, that is still coming from an animal that had to
endure so much pain just for you to have that teeny-tiny bit of trim on your jacket. There’s
nothing good about pretending like you don’t know. So, like Oprah says, when you know better
you do better. The fact that Oprah left us, well, I’m your Oprah now. You’re welcome.
I don’t wear exotic skins. I won’t wear snake or alligator. When people send things
to me, I’ll look at it, and I’m like “Is that snake?” And they are like, “Well,
it’s dyed pink.” “So you dyed this snake pink and now it’s a purse?” I can’t
subscribe to that although I do see that people wear faux-skins, and I think that’s a really
great thing. They look exactly the same! People who are still wearing fur, and buying fur,
and fashion designers who are still using them in their collections, I would really
just ask you to take a minute to watch this footage of these fur farms. So I just, I hope
that you see that pain is not worth anything you are getting back from it.
