Today the Prime Minister and I announced NSW would be the first
Australian state to agree to the “Gonski” national education reforms.
This is great news for students, teachers and parents throughout NSW.
The agreement will deliver an additional $5 billion for NSW schools
as well as continue the NSW Government’s education reforms.
It’ll mean:
more resources for local schools
a fairer system with schools serving disadvantaged communities benefiting most
higher teacher standards
and school principals and communities making decisions about what’s
best for their local school.
Put simply, this historic achievement will result in a
better education for our children.
I’m proud of these historic reforms which couldn’t have been achieved without
your advocacy, and I congratulate you for all your efforts.
