The action at Skoda was a little subdued, but it did have two vehicles that would interest
buyers -- sure they are not mass market, but cater to a specific niche. One was the facelifted
Skoda Superb that goes on sale priced between 18.87 lakh and 25.2 lakh rupees across five
variants, three petrol and two diesel.
The new Superb comes with a new styling for the headlamps and with fully redesigned tail-lamps
at the rear, but it retains the dimensions of the existing car and hence the incredible
space it has at the rear as well as the front. It also retains the trade-mark twin-door boot
opening mechanism. The car comes with a 1.8 litre turbo petrol in six-speed manual and
7-speed automatic transmissions and a 2 litre diesel with a six-speed automatic.
The other car on display was the facelifted Skoda Yeti, which is likely to be introduced
in the Indian market later this year. Gone are the adorable, quirky looks of the Yeti,
to be replaced with a mature, slightly assertive front end. New headlamps with projectors,
bumper and grille dominate the change, while the rest of the Yeti is relatively similar.
The interiors also get tweaked with changes to the dash with inclusion of some features
such as cruise control and keyless go. Engine choices remain the same -- the 2 litre diesel
in two power output options. Skoda didn't really focus much on any of its
other offerings, choosing to highlight these two products instead.
