Hey everyone! Another quick tutorial for you, this time on using the Impression Welcome
Tab for Pages. I think you'll find it incredibly easy, and it's very much like posting your
Impressions to your timeline.
Let's get started. I've got an Impression slash presentation all set to go. I need to
upload it to the Media Connexus servers. So, go to "Publish" and click on "Publish For
Sharing".
Fill out the Title box and the Description box. The Upload/Update button won't become
available until you fill this information out. Once you have, click on the "Upload/Update
this Impression" button.
A litte progress bar will show up in the lower left hand corner.
Okay, it's done uploading. Next, we need to associate the Impression we just uploaded
with the Welcome Tab application. If you don't yet have the app, click on the "Facebook Fan
App" button and there's a link to the app. Just click on this button to install it.
A new window will open and you can select the page you want to install the app to by
clicking on this drop down box, then click "Add Page Tab". You'll get a confirmation
back and then you can just close that window.
You only need to install the app once, so if you've already done that we can move on.
The next step is to associate the Impression we just uploaded with the Welcome tab application
on the page we installed the application to. So, go to Facebook and navigate to the page
you installed the Impression Welcome Tab for Pages on.
Once there, you simply click on the application in the app bar, here just below your cover
photo. If you can't see it, you may have to click on the little arrow to the right to
show more apps.
Okay, so click on the application and you'll get the control panel. My Welcome page is
playing because I've already done this, but your's will be blank until you select an Impression.
Simply click on the "Choose Pre-like Impression" and the Impression Manager, much like the
one in Studio, will show up. Navigate to the Impression we just uploaded and click on "Apply
This Impression". Then, go back to the top and click on "Done".
That's it! That's all there is to it. Since this is the "Pre-like" Impression, only those
who haven't yet liked your page will see it when they click on the application. You might
want to create one for people who have liked your page. When you do, simply follow the
same instructions but click on "Choose Post-like Impression" instead. Since authoring Impressions
is so easy, I would recommend making a new Post-like Impression often. It'll keep your
community engaged and is a great way to keep them up to date.
Clicking this button toggles between your pre- and post-like Impressions.
One other thing I want to cover is the ability to change the icon you see in the app bar.
Currently, Facebook lets you change this picture and change the text below it so you don't
have to advertise for us. You can create your own custom image, or find one on the web,
but we also give you the ability to create a custom image based on your Impression. Let's
go back to Studio and I'll show you.
Just click on the "Export Facebook Snapshot" button. Save it somewhere you can find it
later. This is a snapshot of the first scene in your Impression and is sized just for the
Facebook tab image.
Now, go back to Facebook and click on the arrow to the right of the apps, then hover
your mouse over the app. A little pencil icon shows up. Click on that and you get the option
to "Edit Settings". Click on that and a new window will pop up. You can type in new text
to appear below the app. Then click on "Change" next to "Custom Tab Image:". You get another
new window. Just click on "Change", then "Browse" to wherever you saved your custom image.
Once that's done, just close this window. Then click on the "Save" button. Then click
on the "Okay" button. That's it!
Thanks for watching, and remember you can post any questions you have right on our Facebook
wall. Now get out there and tell your story.
