This is Lois Arnold and I am the owner of Elijah University City Salon and Spa, and
we are at 4012 Market Street here in Philadelphia. That’s cleaning up really, really, nicely,
getting all the extra residue off. Make sure that it’s nice and smooth. We’re almost
finished here. Okay. After you do that it’s very important that you must buff the nail
because what the buffing does is very important. The buffing actually seals the nail so that
no water can get through there, because water is the enemy. If water gets underneath the
nail or through the nail, then you can get what is called a nail fungus. Janelle has
beautiful nails and she’s a student, so she’s on her computer a lot. Because of
that she doesn’t want or require limpy nails. The short is very nice on her. As I said,
they’re not polished or anything but you can see right now they already look so natural.
She can actually go unpolished, but we’re going to give her an American polish today.
Okay. What I did is I applied clear polish to this nail, when I really wanted to apply
oil. It does it actually when it does two things; it buffs into the nail and gives it
that real smooth nail look. It gives it that nice shine, which you can grow natural, but
also when you apply the buffing, you can actually see if there’s any flaws in the nail also.
That’s what a nail tech would know that the average person wouldn’t know. You can
tell just through the buffing if there might be something that you might need to go back.
You see how smooth that is? Years ago, that’s all they would do is just buff it in really,
really well and you can go; especially, with a man’s manicure.
