The project was born from my personal inquisitiveness to frame design within heritage, identity and skate.
The fact of living in this port city made me appreciate an icon that always appears in the markets and the hills of valpo.
It has a direct relation with the heritage, both by the fact that it is used as a vehicle as well as its construction and history,
thus giving the cart as an object in which contains a strong value of port traditions.
Using design the challenge was to build new meanings through the heritage giving a sense of belonging within everyday life.
Old is Cool surges as the response and appreciation of the old joining an avant-garde attitude.
It uses the materials from demolitions of patrimonial assets which are the cinemas and theaters of Valparaiso that no longer exist
The project contains the rescue of the heritage and iconic memory of the city converting it into a vehicle and patrimonial transferring,
the idea is simple
to deliver a change of notion of how to communicate heritage giving a new type of format.
The project provides a unique context as currently all patrimonial objects are associated with local craftsmanship
are to produce an innovation and also without giving a new purpose to the raw material.
Old is cool generates a change in the form of exhibiting and displaying identity through the materiality and its graphics.
The objective is to create an object from design that rescues the patrimonial identity,
which explores possibilities for cultural and recreational travel.
This project is done within an emerging brand named PETER KINGS
which has participated in the fifth biennial of Design and has been the winner of the Capital Semilla entrepreneurship for its development.
Skateboard and design are adrenalin and risks, both are examples of overcoming,
if you fall, you get up and you try it again and again, a constant process which, for many others and I, is a way of life.
