After years of researches and experiments, MASMEC created SIRIO
a very innovative computerized system providing a help to interventional radiologists.
SIRIO allows real time virtual navigation and extremely precise and rapid needle leading
during biopsy or thermoablation of neoplasms observed by TC.
The system can be effectively used for all neoplasms, even less than one centimetre wide,
in order to reduce the number of tomographic scans.
Advanced software for DICOM image processing and visualization and infrared tracking sensors for needle navigation
let SIRIO be an extremely accurate and reliable system. A wide range of disposable sterilized kit allows the use of SIRIO
in different anatomical sites, which are not diagnosable with other techniques.
The kit is easily adaptable in any intervention procedure and it is composed of:
• A sensing device for needle tool
• A sensor for real time tracking of patient position and for breath integrated control
Starting from TC images SIRIO reconstructs the anatomical volume.
So it is possible highlighting any neoplasms to reach and vital structures to prevent.
Using automatic transparent registration procedures, interventional tools can be found in space
referred to patient position, enabling a perfect correlation between real operating field and virtual space.
The computerized system allows to choose, fix and control
the most suitable needle trajectory according to the physician with the highest precision.
The choice can be made before or during surgery,
and it is made possible by SIRIO's advanced and real-time graphic tools.
The selected trajectory and a virtual needle are always visible during further phases of needle insertion,
aiding the surgeon along the path to the neoplasm.
SIRIO ensures short interventional time, safety in achieving the neoplasm, significant reduction of number of tomographic scans
and so reduction of radiation amount absorbed by the patient.
