Hello and welcome to the Rutgers University Libraries.
We have many resources available to help you with your research. Let me show you how to get started.
Our webpage can be found at libraries.rutgers.edu
Don’t forget to make that plural because we have many libraries.
You can access or request the majority of our materials from our website.
We strive to provide materials electronically whenever possible.
Even if you are told not to use online materials, that doesn’t mean you can’t use library resources that are available electronically.
If you are trying to access Rutgers restricted resources from off campus,
you will be prompted to login with your Rutgers netID and password.
If you would like to know our hours, select “Hours” on the red navigation menu at the top of the page,
and then select the appropriate time period.
If you are looking for directions you can find those under “Places and Spaces.”
We have many libraries across all of our campuses and you may use any of them.
Some of the largest ones are Alexander Library, the Library of Science and Medicine, Kilmer Library and Douglass Library.
There is also the Dana Library in Newark and the Robeson Library in Camden.
You have access to materials in all of these libraries.
To view your library account, click on “my account” on the top left side above the red navigation menu.
From this page, you can manage your account, renew books that
you have checked out, or check the status of a request for a book or an article.
As an undergraduate, books may be borrowed for 6 weeks at a time and renewed continually
unless recalled or your status as a student has changed.
Books may be returned to any of our libraries.
Whether you are new to Rutgers, or an experienced researcher who needs in-depth assistance,
we have librarians who can help you. Check out our “Help” page.
You can get in touch with us by chat, email, phone, in person and by appointment with a subject specialist.
Librarians are here to help you be successful, so we welcome your questions.
We also have a “How Do I” section for answers to frequently asked questions.
If you would like more direction in a specific subject area, please try one of our research guides.
We have research guides on a wide variety of topics.
These guides are excellent resources for additional information within a subject area.
Some courses, such as those in the writing program, have their own library guides.
We hope this video helps you get started using the Rutgers Libraries. Thank you for watching.
