a new study about air pollution was released Thursday by the International
Agency for Research on Cancer
or the IARC as it's called which its
its partner World Health Organization to be clear and
actually what they did is a meta-analysis which means they look at
over 1,000 studies
worldwide on this topic and they basically discovered
that air causes cancer kinda depressing
find and actually I guess you can make a slight distinction and it's not
air in general its outdoor air
so for what it's worth I guess that's a little better
don't go outside and you'll be okay if you go outside
but your increasing the likelihood you'll get cancer
and I know that sounds really brought it really abstract
and it almost sounds absurd because it's like okay when you wanna do not go
outside it's insane
but the details of it you know really put it in context
and they are super upsetting quote
the air we breathe has become polluted with a mixture of cancer-causing
substances
sources %uh air pollution include emissions from motor vehicles
industrial processes power plants
and household heating and cooking fumes they say that
in terms of different regions in the world China and East Asian countries are
the worst
but listen to these numbers in 2010 alone
exposure to ambient fine particles with this recently estimated to have
contributed
23.2 million the premature deaths
predominantly from cardiovascular disease
and also another 223,000 s
from lung cancer so
it really is what are these things were is a
I guess I shouldn't go outside I mean that's kinda that the message is being
sent here
they say quote outdoor air pollution is now officially classified as a
carcinogen
outdoor the outdoor air is a carcinogen
that again that blows your mind because it's like what what's also know
how much does a reactor that why I wanna live my life now
%uh take this story which it's another one of those stories where
its Schober under-reported I mean it should be front-page news vision be
everybody should know about biz we should all be our grade universally and
we should all be taking proactive action
immediately we just learned that the air is killing us the air is killing us
arm but take the story in
contrast it with the EPA right
and the fact that about half for the politicians
in the United States of America would be fine with getting really PA
and a lot of actively push for a campaign on it they would get rid of the
EPA
they don't know we don't really need it you know its eight suburban some
up regulations on chemical companies
and the fossil fuel industry natural gas industry
and you name it because you know it's not like if u
leave a corporation alone like say one in GE for example
that they will dump PCB's in the hudson river and make it incredibly toxic that
would never happen
wait what that exact thing happened
