My voice never existed in my country.
But now in America when I am a citizen
now I can vote and my voice can count.
Well if you don’t vote
then you have no say so.
People have different reasons for voting.
Why do you vote?
If I don't vote
that means I am giving the decision to other people
to make the decision for me.
When I go to vote I think about what
I can do to help the country. I think about what I can do to help my community.
And I really want to set an example for my children.
Voting is a way to speak up for the issues we care about
like education
health care
roads or the environment.
And that way we have somebody to hear our concerns
about education, health, the economy.
For everyday life
like the economy,
public transportation.
The candidates we elect and laws we vote on affect the quality of life for our families
and communities.
I think about
how the issues
will affect me and my family
and my community.
I’m a grandma, a great-grandma, what’s going to happen to our kids?
So we have to make the right decision and maybe we'll make the difference.
Different people have different feelings about voting.
What do you think?
Well it’s very important to vote.
We live in a country that voting means change, you know.
It's not something you take lightly it's something I considered as an obligation
because people lost their lives to give us that right.
It's not about a test, that's right or wrong.
It's really about
thinking it through for yourself.
When I vote I'm thinking about the kind of representation
I would like to see run our government.
If you don't vote you voice won't be heard.
Your vote is your voice. Use it.
One voice
can change everything.
You say you want education for your child?
But if you don't vote for that you will not get what you need in your life.
Never look at yourself and say my vote won’t count.
Because it does.
Because whatever comes out of the election
will affect all of us.
It's important.
I'm an individual and I feel that
my decisions will make a difference.
I come out of there with my sticker that I have voted
and I feel that I accomplished and did something great for my family and my community.
