Photographing Women - author & photographer Gene Constant
Download the free PDF file at the web address shown above.
I had no intentions of being good at taking photographs, my sole intent was to record
events that were important to me.
However, like so many others, the more I played around with the camera's results, the more
I became infected with the disease known as "The Photo Bug." That dreaded disease goes
right to your heart and pocket. Without any warning, you suddenly find yourself emotionally
involved with the various images that were captured by your camera and caged on paper
or jpg files. Like a junkie, you are always digging into your budget, hoping to find a
few extra dollars for the latest gadget that would complement your camera. Just one more
fix is all that you need -- for this week anyway.
It is my intent to elevate your women's portraiture to levels that you have yet to attempt. As
you review the composition and equipment applications used to create the photography posing and
portrait examples, please be sensitive to the examples of the individuals.
This portrait tutorial is brief and it is free. I am planning a coffee table book that
would include lingerie and similar provocative attire and poses.
ABOUT the Photographer & Author: Mr. Constant has taken the portraits of several hundred
young women over the last forty years. Gene was certified as a professional photographer
by the Illinois chapter of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). He has entered
state competitions for years and regularly won enough points on his entries to be displayed
with other winners and once exhibited in the national PPA competition.
Gene was the Photography Superintendent of the Illinois State Fair, and an assistant
photography superintendent of the Illinois State Fair in the prior year. He entered a
photography themed float for JCPenney in the State Fair parade, and received the Governor's
Trophy for the efforts of the JCPenney camera department staff. JCPenney had never participated
in the State Fair nor had they ever entered the state fair parade before or after that
event staged by Gene.
Gene created a photo contest for the Land of Lincoln, working with the Journal Register
newspaper and government officials to post signs, promote tourism via a brochure offering
a free Yashica camera to winners, and putting together a marketing effort utilizing the
local NBC station in Springfield as well as a group of judges, including himself as one
of the judges.
He has trained thousands of photo customers basic photography skills and chemical darkroom
for JCPenney in Springfield Ill and for K's Merchandise Mart in central and northern Illinois.
At JCPenney, Gene was a Certified Photographic Counselor - a requirement so that he could
help Boy Scouts earn their merit badge in photography. At JCPenney Gene made it a semi-annual
event to give customers FREE camera repairs.
Gene has published his photographs in Rangefinder Magazine, Minolta's Contact Sheet, and in
several editions of The Rangefinder magazine. Gene owned a photography studio in Springfield
Ill and photographed several hundred weddings in the 1980's.
Gene's upcoming hard cover coffee table Photographing Women book is an achievement resulting from
a lifetime of effort. Buyers of this book will get an eyeful of what female photography
has elevated to and learn how to easily achieve similar results, demystifying the art of photography
so that all can enjoy.
