a former police officer is accused of shooting someone in a movie theater
who was texting loudly and disturbing him during the movie previews Louis this
is being reported
by WF L a the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reports that the suspect in a
deadly shooting
at the Cobb growth 16 theater
in Wesley Chapel is a retired Tampa Police Captain
sheriff Chris not joe said that Curtis reeves 71 years old
was arrested and charged with second-degree homicide
and is being held without bond investigators are calling this unit
shooting and isolated incident
whatever that means in this type of case they say it
I that there were two couples at the theater watching previews for the movie
the lone survivor
when the shooting occurred the long and short of it Lewis is that
Reeves and his wife got into an argument with the different couple who were
sitting in front of them
and they the the couple sitting in front nicole and Chad Olson were texting
relieves the former police captain asked him to stop several times
at one point reads left the theater and came back
at which point Olson reportedly asked them did you get up and leave to report
me for texting to the theater
and at that point and argument escalated popcorn may have been thrown by Olson
at reeves at which point reeves pulled out a gun
and shot Chad Olson in the chest one-shot
reportedly and he didn't die from
the shot Louis what the hell is going on in florida what is going on in our
country
I am I don't know I
I I sorta do now but at the same time I really can't explain it
it's weird I but apparently his wife also suffered so
I think there may have been more than just one shot know what what I read
Louis is that she used her hand
in some kinda reactive measure during the shooting
and may have had her hand grazed by the shot non-life-threatening injuries you
are right that she was hurt also am I to understand that
they were watching previews for the movie hadn't even started the movie had
not started because of course Louis a shooting would have been justified had
the texting been taking place during the movie but what kind of net would shoot
someone for texting during the previews
you know it its it's sad to say this but I can understand someone shooting
someone else during the actual movie but the previews are kinda
kind of like a a grace period where where you are
you know should be allowed to text to talk on your phone I mean it's just the
previews
but regardless I mean no one should be shot I'll during a movie
was the what what the NRA position on this that
the retired policeman is a patriotic responsible gun owning dude
or that if the guy texting had had a gun he maybe wouldn't have been shot her
perhaps some kind of cell phone under barrel
attachment would have been able to allow the texter 2 also shoot while texting
I mean it's just the level we've gotten to hear and
and remember Louis Florida where we have the Stand Your Ground disaster
yesterday on the bonus show we talk about Florida looking at legalizing
warning shots
and now you have someone shot by a police captain
the epitome over who would be described someone who would be described as a
responsible and legal gun owner and a
a steward of the second amendment shooting someone dead
and if he's going to make the case that he was defending himself
from popcorn and felt threatened and
thought he was gonna lose his life this is just unbelievable
while this could be a ER
this time we have witnesses at least I
so we know he can't argue that am I doubt that the guy was
swing at him word that he felt his life was threatened
it's just unbelievable that this is happening in this country and more guns
more there are there are
serious elements in society in by serious I mean that they don't presented
as an idea of satire but as an idea in reality
that more guns are going to be the solution if everybody in the theatre had
been armed
well then it would have been a completely different and apparently much
better
situation I don't understand it
