Welcome to my personal favorite smokey look.
It´s one of my favorite looks - favorite, because I make it ever and ever again. I love it!
I think this combo suits me well with my blue eyes and pale comlexion.
It´s not a classic smokey eye - but I think the colors are very similar to TRUE smokey, so this is my interpretation.
I think such a look needs a touch of color on the cheeks. Not bold, but a bit more colorful than contouring only. I used a matte mauve shade by MAC - Coygirl.
And your lips will look the best, when they are a bit nude, a tiny bit more pale. One focus is enough - this time it´s on the eyes only.
This is not a tutorial only - I also show here my favorite brushes for eyeshadows. Although I have tons of brushes, I use these the most.
I have lots of other brushes which are good aswell, but I love these the most. I can´t even give you a reason. It´s intuition...
A good brush for me has to bring several great attributes - not only a few. Lots of brushes look the same like my favorites, but they are not in parctice.
For me it´s a combo of the bristle quality, the shape of the brush and how dense it is and how it treats the product.
In circular motions some brushes show their true quality. Some worse bristles stay in the middle in one point meanwhile the other, outer bristles don´t even touch the ground.
So for ME these are must haves, a recommendation.
ENJOY THE VIDEO!
Prime your whole lid with your favorite base - in this case I used TOO FACED Shadow Insurance
With my MAC 242, a flat dense brush I apply the first color. It´s similar to the shown daVinci brush, but it's half synthetic, half animail hair.
This mixture is essencial for my choise beeing a FAVORITE brush. It´s very dense, by takes enough color and buffs it into the base.
The main color is DIANNE BRILL eyeshadow in METALLIC LACE. I love the color, I love the effect and I love the texture. This is the true color of smoke I think :-D
Apply it on the whole lid up to the crease - depending on the shape you prefer.
You can leave the inner corner free.
Create the shape you want with this color and try to blend out the edge a bit already now.
I forgot to apply loose owder underneath the eye to catch up the fall out. But I highly recommend to do it!
If you want you can aplly the same shadow on the lower lid now - or in the end if you used powder.
I used the same brush again, because it's quite flat and precise.
For the inner corner of the lid I use MAC Cloudbound eyeshadow, which was limited, but there are similar available. It´s a sheer white color with golden duochrome shimmer.
I use the 242 here aswell. Nothing special...
For the next step I use another favorite - the small detail brush from COASTAL SCENTS ($2) LOVE IT for detail work. With the CLOUDBOUND again.
The brush is also very cool for the "cut crease" effect...
Finally I used NARS Night Clubbing Eyeshadow, which is a matte black texture with golden shimmer.
To apply this one into the crease I use my favorite brush ever - daVinci 41930. Unfortunatelly I don´t know if it´s available internationally.
All other pencil brushes with a similar shape didn´t make the job the way this one does - it´s gorgeous.
The combo of bristles and the shape is perfect.
The eyeshadow is highly pigmented, so only dip into the pot and apply into the crease and create a banana shape.
And some product along the lash line...
Blend as much as you can, but try to keep an approximate line to define the shape.
Look into the mirror - straight and without any posing to doublecheck the shape.
With the CS detail brush some Night Clubbing on the outer lower lid.
I think a tiny bid of the product into the outer V gives it the last bit of needed definition.
Finally the Metallic Lace by DB again to blend them all together and to make it last longer.
If there are any harsh lines correct them with a skin toned eyeshadow - like an eraser.
The POSH smokey eyes brush is gorgeus for correcting this way and also as an highlighter brush.
Both brushes are very similar :-)
I used MAC Brule e/s to blend out a bit the outer edge...
... and SHROOM for highlighting below the brow.
This look is simple and you can choose yourself. You can make it less dark by using the CLOUDBOUND on 2/3 of the lid and a bit less of NIGHT CLUBBING
That´s all :-D THanks for watching!
