Hello OB Fan! This is Dr. Mitch.
I decided to do a video announcement to email out to you guys
because it would just be simpler to say what I have to say
instead of trying to type it all out in an email.
This week when I sent you your email announcement and
when I posted it on D2L I stated that you had until Tuesday to complete your
initial discussion. But I made an error in writing on the actual
discussion that you would be required to post by Noon
on Wednesday. As a result, there was some confusion,
that is my fault for the confusion. There was also some confusion
with this new D2L format. I've gotten a lot of emails
from you guys stating that you were confused about the new format and weren't sure
how to access the materials. What I've decided to do is to
break the class up into groups - which you've been posting in your groups
thus far. And I haven't posted any grades as yet because
there were some bugs in the grading tool of
this new D2L system. I think we've gotten the bugs
worked out. I've worked with the Academic Technology Support office
and the staff has helped me with that. I want for you to check your D2L
to see if you have in your gradebook items just for your group.
So you should have - for instance if you're in Group 1 - it should say
"Discussion #2 - Group 1". The grades for "Discussion #3 - Group 1";
"Discussion #4 - Group 1"... All the way through to Discussion #15.
Please double check with that and if you see a grade for a group that
is not yours, please email me and let me know.
Or, if you do no see a grade for a group that is yours,
please email me and let me know. Once I don't get any emails
and I'm sure that the grading visibility system is working
fine, then I will go ahead and post the grades for Discussion #2
from last week. And, after Discussion #3 closes
this week, I'll post those grades as well. As it turns out, I will not
be penalizing you for posting late for Discussion #2 for last week,
nor for Discussion #3 for this week. So, if you posted your 3 posts,
including your initial post, for Discussion #2, which ended
last Friday, you will get your full credit for that.
The same thing with this week. So, if you have not posted as yet,
you still have time to post and still get full credit.
So, if you post by this Friday at noon, your 3 posts -
your 1 initial post in addition to your 2 posts in response
to other groupmates' initial posts - then
you will get your full credit. Starting next week,
your initial post will be due on Wednesday.
I will give you that 1 additional day. Instead of
on Tuesday at noon, your initial post will be
due on Wednesday at noon. And, you will have until, again,
Friday, at noon to complete the 2 additional posts.
