We're working on our relationship essentials today and today we're going to be talking
about how to love your wife. I'm Joe Cuenco with Family Resources and we're going to be
talking about just the best way to love your wife. You really need to understand your wife
at a grass root level, to understand what it is she wants that makes her feel special.
And this is a conversation that you needed to have with her and ask her because her answer
may be different than another female. She may want you to do some different things for
her to make her feel special. It might be cooking a meal for her once in a while. It
may be making sure that her car is taken care of. She's got gas in her car. Or it may be
a thing of making sure that you are good with her family. You can pick your family, you
can pick your friends but not your family. And sometimes, there are relationship issues
that deal with family. So, you really need to have the conversation around what makes
my wife feel special and then do those things and make her feel special. In addition to
the real relationship essentials, of love, trust, respect, friendship and communication,
you know, are you aligned on other things? Do you have common goals? Do you have common
interests where you can build relationship, fun and continue that friendship? So, all
of these are very important things to show your wife that she's special. She's still
the most important person in your life and, if you had to, you'd make that choice all
over again. And, show her that by doing some special things for her, sending her a text
every once in a while at work, "I love you. You're the most important person in my life."
Balance an agreement, you know, be open to some compromise, making sure that you understand
and put her needs first. And, sometimes, that takes a bit of giving. Couples need to be
open to giving a little more. It's not a 50/50 relationship. Sometimes you have to be open
to giving more. Because, when you do that, you're in a position to receive more. Workshops
and marriage education classes help people understand some of the ways that they can
deal with some of the difficulties and also the ways they can deal with the more positive
aspects of how to grow your love even deeper and more long term. I'm Joe Cuenco with Family
Resources, Relationships for Life.
