One morning, after one of these dreams, I did this drawing.
That's why we're here. He thinks he was here before.
I think that's indeed the case.
You remember a past life.
They instantly leave for the area as shown on the old map.
Right into the corn fields.
An endless maze of green shrubs.
What if they really discovered the house in this patchwork countryside?
The travelers feel a real sense of adventure.
Then the journey ends abruptly.
The river has flooded the fields recently.
That's insane.
That's almost a lake.
A tractor could go on, but not a car.
We've reached the limit and have to return now.
They turn around, disappointed but not discouraged.
His friend promises Fickler to bring him here on another day again.
A few months later he tells him in a letter that he has found a wrecked house indeed.
Welcome to our archive.
Railroad museum, Omaha, Nebraska.
Yet another stop on his expedition through his past life.
Looking for photos that match his personal sketches from his railroad-dreams.
Old steam engines and depots.
They had turntables and pits.
So the men could repair the engines from below.
H. Fickler compares each photo with his dream images.
I know this cowcatcher.
The lamp is gone.
This is terribly near.
That's completely crazy.
The roof also was a glass roof.
You could tilt it.
You could open it this way.
Patiently, the archivist retrieves all documents from that time.
However, he's more and more surprised by this special guest.
I think I worked here.
I don't know, maybe I was a supervisor.
The registrar begins to wonder.
This old man claims to have worked here - 150 years ago?
Do you think this is strange?
No, I think there is more than we know.
And with every answer new questions come along.
Yes, maybe he has the dreams and experiences of s.o. else.
On the one hand, these kinds of experiences are wonderful.
On the other hand, they are a burden.
I understand. I too have dreams like these.
I'm happy that we meet another person who thinks the way I do.
Who thinks that it could be true.
Hans Fickler has gone a long way.
It started with his devastating Near Death experience.
Then came the dreams from another world.
After that he visited this other world.
Today he is very convinced that his soul has been here before already.
On his research trip, H. Fickler approaches the final stop.
A little town in Pennsylvania.
There he hopes to find the great-granddaughter of his former self.
She still lives in this little village where the Ficklers settled 150 years ago.
This is my father and Fred Baker.
With their grandmother.
This is Edward, my grandfather.
Gottlieb's son.
Do you have a photo of Gottlieb?
This is the only one we have got.
He was very old then.
This is Gottlieb.
Gottlieb, which probably was the life that H. Fickler has lead before.
This is Gottlieb's last will.
The 91-year-old great-granddaughter shows Hans Fickler the family album.
H. Fickler almost seems to be a normal relative who stopped by for a chat and a cup of coffee.
This is the census from 1870 and 1860.
She has documents I've not seen before.
There were several German families who immigrated at the same time.
They all lived in the same region as farmers.
They came later into the village.
Then they became builders or carpenters.
This would have been my wife.
And this is him. Gottlieb Fickler.
H. Fickler believes that he was here in this body before.
That's very strange.
I do not have any memories.
But I have heard of people who experienced this and believe it.
I'd never say they are wrong.
Finally he arrived.
After 40 years of research he thinks that he has found his truth.
I see my own name.
You're standing at your own grave, as it were.
Yes. That's right.
I'd say, I assume it with a certainty of 90%.
10% are still open to debate.
I need to check on them.
Anyway, it's an odd feeling.
I believe, when I'm done here with my tasks it would be nice to get back to this place.
