Welcome to ShavedApe's pearls of wisdom Yes hello guys this is ShavedApe and this
is a new series that I hope will help some of you to improve your FPS gaming I would
like to think that a lot of these tips will carry over into most FPS games so this series
is aimed at helping you no matter what the game.
I love FPS games and spend most of my spare time playing them at the moment specifically
Medal Of Honor Warfighter so the next few episodes in this series will be for those
of you that want to improve in that game but as I say a lot of these tips can be used
in most First Person Shooters.
Now then On with show, this video is all about getting the maximum fps in your chosen game
thats frames per second for those that dont know and the reason we do this is to get the
smoothest gameplay possible.
Competitive gamers and used to be one dont really care how good a game looks thats for
single player but instead care about how smooth it plays, the smoother the game play the quicker youll
be able to see your target
Now if your really competitive you can even go for lower resolutions too as that will not only
give you more fps but potentially a larger area to aim at making the hit box feel more
accurate.
I personally play in 1920x1080 I did try lower but I hated it and I couldnt
aim for toffee. So I now stick with my current resolution and an FOV of usually around 80
remember changing your FOV or field of view can significantly effect your mouse sensitivity
so if your going to change it please keep that in
mind. FOV is personal some like as much as 90 while others prefer 70 Im not going to
try and tell you which you should use because as I say thats personal, what I will say is
the greater FOV the smaller the target and the more fish
eye things can look.
As you can see I use custom settings and I am running for those that are interested a
Saphire HD 7970 GHZ Edition 3 GB GPU and to answer the question why pay so much for a
card then lower so many settings the answer is simple
max FPS = smoothest gameplay, So as you can see not everything is set to low and I did
experiment with my card to see which settings game me a hit in fps and which didnt, one
setting that I try to keep as high as possible is the mesh
setting having looked it up I believe it helps objects render faster in game please feel
free to correct me in the comments if thats wrong. I didnt go with ultra because the fps
hit vs the benefit just wasnt really worth it.
Anything else as I say really came down to how it effected my FPS to a degree and that
is to say while I want nice textures I dont really care about shadows and the reason for
that is simple a nice shadow may look good under that tree
but what if someone is lay there hiding if the shadow is reduced maybe I will see him
easier. If i can reduce the amount of leaves on a tree then maybe I will see him moving
behind it.
So with all that said you have to find what is best for you and there are always more
things you can tweak though and thats upto you to maybe decide what works for you
maybe for playing with digital vibrance for nvidia users or increasing saturation for ATI users to make colors more
vibrant thus maybe making the enemy stand out more against the
wall that they are trying to hide behind.
There are no set rules here but hopefully this video gives some of you an insight into why some people just see you
quicker etc.
Now then before I end the video I want to just point out that I dont use virtical sync
and neither do most competitive gamers why is that oh wise one I hear you ask and the
answer is INPUT LAG! There are those that will say it doesnt exist
anymore and they are entitled to that opinion but most competitive gamers favor and FPS
limit over Virtical sync and to do that you need to create a txt file in your root of your game or
the install directory this applies to medal of honor and also can be used in bf3 use of
configs and fps games goes way back so your not doing anything wrong.
I will put details of how to do this in the description so if your interested have a look
in there and hopefully youll see the benefits of why.
Ok thats it for me and I want to say a big thank you for watching I hope you enjoyed
it and above all I hope it helps you to improve your gameplaying experience please let me
know if it does I would love to hear from you.
This is me ShavedApe saying until next time I am Outta Here!
