Hi, everyone!
It's Jennifer Neumann from Pages for the Ages Scrapbooking.
On today's scrapbooking tutorial
I have a riddle for you YouTube viewers.
What do wrapped gifts and scrapbooking have in common?
Okay. Besides paper.
I'm just going to tell you.
The answer is.....tags
and when I get back I’m going to
give you a few tips and ideas on
how you can incorporate tags into your next scrapbooking layout!
(Intro music)
Scrapbooking is the best way
to capture memories and
make them last a lifetime
But how do you get started without spending a fortune?
Pages for the Ages is here to help you out!
In recent years, tons of new scrapbooking tag products
have come out on the market.
You can find tags in many different forms.
You can buy punches to create tags.
There are premade die-cut tags.
You can even find sticker tags
not to mention chip board tags
and finally there are stencils which will
help you create scrapbooking tags.
For those of you who are new to scrapbooking as a hobby,
you may be asking,
“How do you use a tag in scrapbooking?”
Well, there are basically 4 ways which I can think of.
Number one. You can use a tag for journaling.
Number two. You can create a title with your tags.
Number three. You can display a photo on your tag or
number four, just use the tag
as an embellishment on your page.
I'm going to show you a few examples
of tags which I've created here in a minute, but
first I want to talk about this product which I recently purchased
and why I think it's really helpful
for someone who is interested in scrapbooking on a budget.
Today I'm going to give you a quick product review of
this merchandise which I bought from
JoAnn Fabric and Craft Store.
It’s called the Mini Additions Template by the compay Deja Views.
It’s basically a stencil for creating tags.
Here’s some video from when I first opened it
and you can see that there 2 different styles of tags.
One tag has all straight edges
and the other tag has rounded corners
and kind of a scalloped top.
Each style comes in 4 different sizes.
I really think this is a great tool
especially if you’re scrapbooking on a budget.
Number one, it’s affordable.
Number two, it’s reusable. So you can
make as many tags as you want.
Number three, it’s super thin and easy to store.
It’s not going to take up much space in your scrapbooking bag.
well, how about that?
Let's go ahead and look at some tags
which I have recently made.
Here's a page on which I might want to add
a journaling tag.
This template is available in my ArtFire shop
and it has to do with the "friendship" theme.
Here's a picture of my friend Hania.
So, I might want to describe her
and I could do that journaling
on a very simple tag where
I just wrote her name down the side
and then kinda described her using different adjectives
starting with the same letter.
Tags are just really great tools for labeling people in pictures.
They're unobtrusive and they're decorative at the same time.
So, here's one of my personal pages
where I just quickly wrote down on the tag
the person's relation to myself.
Here are a couple more examples of how to use tags.
The tag on the left, I have displayed a photo
and then the tags on the right,
we have the example of creating a title.
I think these turned out really nicely.
Um, I used the largest straight-edged stencil for this one
and then the smallest straight-edged stencil for these.
And, just going into detail about this...
I layered this up.
I used an acid-free marker to kinda outline it.
Then I used the acid-free pen
to add some dotting work around the flowers
and a little sticker and a die-cut up here.
Over here, we have the word "sweet" handwritten
and then basically, the only other thing I did
was to use this Archival Brilliance ink
and when I zoom in here, you might be able to see
there's a little bit of a shimmer on those.
They aren't adhered down to the paper.
They are actually held together by a string.
So, there's a couple more ideas of
how to create tags.
And finally, embellishments.
we saw an example of this
in this year's Pages for the Ages Christmas episode
where we used handmade tags with Christmas phrases
to add embellishments to the Christmas layout.
Well, I've shared a couple of different scrapbooking ideas with you.
Now, TAG! You're it.
Leave me a comment in the space below
letting me know if you have any
great ideas on how to use tags
or what your favorite form of tag is.
