This tape is about health reasons for being a vegetarian. I can remember years ago when
I worked at an immune system clinic in San Antonio, San Diego rather. I would spend my
lunch hours with the nutritionist. And I'd come in and I'd ask my husband, "well, what
did you eat today?" And he would explain that he went out and ate some kind of meat. And
I'd say, "you know what the nutritionists say about that?" And so I would come in and
tell him all these horror stories. It took about three weeks and, finally, he looks at
me and he says, "I think I'll never eat meat again." You think about the things that they
put in meat products. I was reading an article the other day and they were saying that they
put antibiotics in the beef. So when we eat the beef, we get the antibiotics. We don't
need antibiotics unless we're sick. And, on top of that, the more antibiotics you use,
the less effective they become. So, if you figure you eat antibiotics everyday for the
next fifty years, how effective is that antibiotic going to be for you when you actually need
it? So, think about the things that they do to meat, that they add to meat. The steroids,
the hormones, all these things that they add into meat, you're eating that. Be very careful.
You're much better off with your vegetables, your grains and your nuts, your seeds, everything.
