Hello guys, this is Ilias the Ranting Greek Gamer and today we are reviewing Attack on Titan, episode 25.
Which btw is the last episode of the season as well.
The episode starts with Eren and Annie continuing their battle in the city streets,
causing a lot of destruction and killing a whole lot of people in the process.
Eventhough Annie seems to have the advantage,
Eren manages to retaliate and gain he upper hand, thanks to his rage & anger.
Just like Erwin said to the commander of the Police Corps and Armin mentions it too later,
in order to defeat a monster, you must also become a monster and leave your humanity aside.
It seems that Eren is able to retain his sanity this time around,
and remembering everything that he went through with Annie in the past,
he realized that she has been lying all this time and he understood that by the way she fought,
when they were under training.
How can i say this: Someone who fights so well and is so capable,
its not the type of person who doesnt care about anything.
She must have a goal for harnessing all that strength and it seems that she has some obsession about her father,
but we dont see many details about it unfortunately.
While for a moment it seems that Annie will manage to get away by climbing the wall,
(because at some point she manages to escape Eren and she climbs the wall with her hands)
Mikasa appears out of nowhere, cuts off her fingers,
and lets her fall to the ground while she looks her in the eye and says "Fall you ***!!" or something like that xD
So we could say that this way Mikasa is taking her revenge about the events that happened in the forest if you remember.
After Annie falls to the ground, Eren finishes her off by dealing a ton of damage to her,
and revealing her human body.
But at the moment when he is ready to crush her human body as well,
he sees tears in her eyes and he automatically stops attacking.
That gives the chance to Annie to enclose herself into an unbreakable crystal,
thus protecting herself from any kind of questioning that they would do her later.
The moment when she looks like she is going to do to Eren the same, or hurt him somehow (they said fusion in the episode but im not sure),
Levi also appears out of nowhere and saves him,
although it surprised me a little, because Levi still looked like he was hurt and now we see him saving Eren gracefully, like nothing happened :P
Anyway... the whole thing seems to come to an end, after we see Jean shouting angrily at Annie while she is in the crystal,
and he hits it constantly,
because it seems that Annie still doesnt want to give to her friends any kind of explanations,
eventhough she should of have.
And everyone is wondering if they really achieved anything after all this destruction.
But as Erwin explains during his interrogation,
he doesnt deny that there are lot of losses and a lot of destruction,
but he also believes that they prevented even further destruction and even more Titan invasions.
And he seems to emphasize that,
with Eren at their side, humanity can finally go to the offensive and not be on the defensive side all the time.
So Eren, Erwin, Levi and all the others, are relieved of any charges that were against them.
As for Eren, he has Mikasa on his side as always and takes care of him,
And we might finally be seeing some sort of romance between them, eventhough Jean looks kinda jealous after he leaves the room xD
and i felt kinda sorry for him i must say.
Because he is a good guy at the end of the day and he had a great character development
throughout the entire series.
Eventhough i didnt expect it.
You could say that things slowly come back to normal,
apart from some footage after the credits, in a hole in the wall that Annie opened,
that basically tells us that there will be a second season as well... THANK THE LORD!!!" :P
Ok, so the episode was exceptional,
and i believe that it ended this season in the best possible way, eventhough i was worried about it in the last episode.
The parts that were the most rewarding for me,
was the battle between Eren and Annie,
which was a barrage of non-stop action from the beggining to the end and had incredible animation,
and showed that Eren can be unstoppable when he really wants it.
But it seems that he doesnt lose his humanity tottaly,
because when he sees the human form of Annie with tears in her eyes,
he stops his merciless rage.
And i agree with his decision because i also felt somewhat sorry for Annie when i saw her with tears in her eyes,
even if she killed so many people.
But the best part was when Mikasa cuts off Annie's fingers,
She gently stepped on Annie's face,
looking her directly in the eye saying "fall Annie" xD
And eventhough Mikasa wanted to kill Annie from the very beggining,
she also looked kinda sad when she was looking at Annie falling.
Maybe its just my idea but maybe she had some feelings for Annie as well? Who knows.
Anyway...
Erwin also showed signs of awesomeness with his determination in front of the commander of the Police corps,
and during his interrogation too.
He firmly believes that this war cannot be won without sustaining losses and sacrifice.
And he manages to convince his superiors about it.
And its true, that in order to have victories in your life, you must sacrifice other things as well.
We also see a small love interest between Eren and Mikasa,
but it was something very brief,
and it seems to be coming from Mikasa's side mostly.
She doesnt want Eren to die or get hurt, no matter the cost.
And she is determined to protect him to the end.
This seems to be her (only) weakness as well,
despite all the power she displays during combat.
I just wish that Eren will mature more as a character at some point,
and protect Mikasa a bit more for a change,
because the girl deserves it and then some.
As for the scene that we see after the end credits,
with the Titan that we see inside the wall,
i really didnt expect to see this in the anime so soon,
but it prepares us for Season 2 and tells us that there are many more mysteries to discover in Attack on Titan.
And thats all folks... thats all i had to say about this week's review of Attack on Titan, my last review of the series actually.
Its the first series that i complete and cover as a reviewer.
And im very happy about it. At the same time though, it saddens me that the anime series is ending,
because i believe that it was the best anime series of 2013,
and i also think that maybe it was one of the few series that rewarded us each week with such good episodes.
