Hi, I'm Kelli Ronci for Pottery Barn Kids.
At your next Halloween party, add a little suspense to your treats by presenting them
in the form of these surprise balls. Inspired by vintage decorations,
you will be amazed at how easy they are to make.
To get started, you'll need some crate paper streamers. We used orange for the pumpkins,
white for the mummies, and black and white polka dot for the ones that say boo.
You'll also need some black card stock, a pair of scissors, and a glue stick.
You'll also want to gather some Halloween candy, and some surprises like bouncy balls, toy spiders, lizards, and bugs.
Cut approximately thirteen to fourteen streamers, each about a yard long.
Then fold each streamer in half length-wise. Allow the streamer to curve slightly as you crease the fold.
Choose a surprise like a small piece of candy or a toy, a round ball shape is perfect to get started with,
and then start at one end of the streamer and begin wrapping it tightly.
Continue wrapping all the way around until it's completely covered,
then layer in another surprise, and continue wrapping.
When you get to the end of the streamer, just add another one and keep on wrapping.
Adding large flat toys like this lizard works best as you near the end of your ball.
When you come to the end of the last streamer, glue down the tip.
Cut a face out of card stock, and glue the individual features to the surprise ball.
Then watch as your trick or treaters delight in each surprise as they unravel and unravel and unravel.
Happy Halloween.
