Hello how are you? My name is Rodrigo
I'm from Mexico, you can call me ROCA just like my name tag
This is the first vlog I've ever done in my life and I'm doing it because I'm part of the WDW CRP, well I'm applying
and when I was trying to find information about the process here in Mexico I did find a lot of information but not about Mexico, I watched videos from all over the world and only 2 were from mexicans and those 2 got into the program and stopped posting, so they kinda left me hanging with missing info
So first of all I'm going to tell you about the program itself, so if you're new to this you can relate to what I'm saying
The CRP it's all about different cultures, and as a CRP your job is to share your traditions and culture at one of the 11 pavilions at the World Showcase at Epcot. The pavilions available are Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan, Morocco, France, The UK and Canada. You must be native from one of these countries to be elected for the CRP
So as you can obviously see, the program is open for Mexicans that want to work at the Mexican Pavilion, the only one that has a pyramid, and inside that pyramid you can find Mexican restaurants, Mexican merchandise and also the ride.
So far so good, the program lasts 1 year working at the Mexican Pavilion at Epcot, and there are 3 roles you can choose from:
Attractions, Merchandise & Food and Beverage
At attractions you can be part of different roles: Attraction greeter, crowd control, ride control, memorizing speeches, etc.
There is also a place for kids called Kid Cot, it's part of Merchandise. At Kid Cot, kids get a paper Duffy Bear(Mickey's Bear) and they're supposed to paint and decorate their Duffy Bear. There's a Kid Cot on every Pavilion and kids get to go all around the world in one day.
Disney made this (Kid Cot) to make kids happy at Epcot. This specific park it's not really for kids and they do get bored a lot.
And also this is the only park where you can buy alcohol. When I was walking by the UK Pavilion I stumbled on a completely drunken guy, so that's another reason why kids don't like Epcot.
At merchandise, well I guess it's pretty obvious what are you supposed to do. At the Mexican Pavilion you can find like 3 or 4 merchandise spots, I'm not 100% sure but in one of them they sell blown glass, it's pretty awesome but also extremely fragile. I wouldn't buy it on a trip to Disney if you think about the guys in charge of the luggage at the airport!!
And finally Food and Beverage: Restaurants(sitting table, fast food, snack spots). These restaurants are NOT managed by Disney they are just Operating Participants and you can work here as a waiter/tress, hostess, runner, etc.
If you want to apply for Food and Beverage you need at least one year of experience, so that's why not a lot choose F&B. I'm applying for Attractions and Merchandise so I don't have a problem.
So that's much it, the program lasts 1 year, you live in Orlando, FL at the Disney Complexes and as far as I know the one for the CRP's is called The Commons
Now if you want to apply, you must know that there are 3 phases, levels, steps that you need to successfully pass in order to be a CRP
First of all you need to send your CV and cover letter, both in english, to the Disney Ally in your country
Here in Mexico there is an Agency that is in charge of the programs for Latin America so there's the link below if you wanna get to them.
That's the first thing you have to do. If they like your papers and you, then they will answer with an e-mail saying if you pass to the next phase or just a thank you very much and keep on trying.
The second phase it's all about the Phone Interviews, they won't say when you will be getting the confirmation e-mail, you just have to wait
They put your patience to the limit, there are some lucky ones that get the confirmation e-mail extremely soon, but there are some unlucky ones like me that wait too long to know. But stay calm if you make it or not, they will let you know.
I had to wait a month and a half to get the e-mail so, just keep on waiting and be patient!!
The Phone Interview is simple, 15 minutes in English, just to listen how good is your english and your attitude
If you get through the Phone Interview then it comes the last but not least phase, the most important one. The Face 2 Face Interview with the official recruiters from WDW. They can come to any state of the country and you must get there by your own ways.
You get lucky if the F2F is in your State because if not, then you may have to travel pretty far and spend some hard cash.
If you get through the F2F then you're in. WDW will offer you a job and it's up to you to you accept it or not
I don't think if there's a lot of people that would reject that kind of opportunity, I know for sure I wouldn't. You will be part of the most amazing entertainment company in the whole world, just imagine the amount of experience you can get and the people you will meet.
So that's pretty much it, I will be posting more vlogs about my process, maybe you can relate to something I do
But I think that's all for today. Like, dislike, comment, subscribe, see you real soon, take care!!! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!! Bye bye.
