Really, cause that’s about it.
Unless I just saw you in the hallway.
That could be it too.
And I didn’t recognize you without the hair.
Which I used to have.
WOW I used to have hair like that But then stress from my
job made it all fall out.
I saw that you are from Pennsylvania,
where?
I’m from Lancaster Pennsylvania.
Amish country.
Im from Pittsburgh.
Four hours away!
Absolutely.
I go up there for my fudge.
Yea totally.
Now before they the first day on the set before they
even yelled action how well did you know Michael Lang?
I met Michael I did here in Central Park last summer and
Michael came to see me in that and I met him and spent
the weekend with him and his family at Woodstock so by
the time they yelled action I had become be familiar
with Michael.
I would imagine though getting ready to do your
performance okay now be more laid back.
Yet totally.
What do you do between takes to get more laid back?
Because I've never seen somebody more laid-back then
Michael Lange on film.
Really?
Yeah, Yeah, I part of it I mean for me as an actor just
sort of being lucky it was my first film I've ever done
to be able to play character that so laid back in your
first film it really forces you to be at ease and it
really forces you Michael's really good at taking things
in and recognizing other human beings and being very
present and so for that to be the first role that I get
to play in a film it forced me to be present and take
other people in and be relaxed it was a real gift.
I was going to say I was doing my first film I'd be
like aggggggh.
yeah I know had I had to play somebody anxious it
would have been a better showing of what I was
actually feeling underneath.
but no it was all acting.
but tell me, I love everything Ryan Murphy and I
know you did a project with him.
And Ang Lee on the other end of the spectrum as far as
directors how did you deal with and we lose attention
to detail with so great I'm sure you've never
encountered somebody like that before.
it's so funny but Ryan Murphy is very attention to
detail oriented yeah very very attention detail
oriented.
And Ang the same way i I think if anybody was going
to make a movie about Woodstock in 1969 and had to
be Ang Lee because his attention is so,
is so intricate because people have lived through
this and they know what it looks like people have been
there and so someone like Ang is really going to
re-create that and make it feel I obviously was not
fair but it feels to me through the research that
was so authentic it was so so authentic,
down to every extra in the film it's just very
realistic.
as a Lancaster boy then the horses are nothing new to
you then.
my dad trains and races horses for living so they
are not new to me but my dad trains and races harness
racing so it's little car behind them so I had to take
horseback riding lessons.
oh that surprises me how was that though that's a huge
beast to learn something like that.
I know it was sort of, I was writing a helicopter in a
motorcycle and the horse, all the elements were thrown
at me which I think sort of help me get out of my head
and get in to it.
I think it was actually a blessing in disguise.
no review in scenes with a lot of the extras I know had
some scenes had a lot of extra hours trying to think
back at some of your scenes if they had a lot of extras.
I was not in any of the huge extra scenes but I was in,
I was in several where they really hired people from the
area that really look like people from 1969 beautiful
people with kids and they were great.
what did you think when you saw the film?
I was so proud I feel so proud to be part of this
movie and to be part of this incredible acting ensemble I
think it's when people, I think it's a beautiful thing
I think it says so many things really honored to be
in it.
you did a really good, I'll try to be laid back and say.
you did awesome man.
Thanks man, thank you .
thanks so much , thank you.
