Hi I'm Mike, and this is Mike's Road Trip.
"Get off the Road"
alright
Hey guys it's one unique adventure after another here in Finland. I'm now about to go on an
icebreaker cruise. So come along with me and let me show you around.
As the captain backs the ship out of the harbor, it's not long before it's full steam ahead.
As the crew charts our course, passengers get to peruse the ship.
Lunch, the guided tour, icebreaking itself, and then the swimming, so, or the water floating.
Later on we're going to turn, away from the channel, and then we're going to break new
ice. That's obviously what people want to see when they are on an icebreaker. Those
four things. And the guided tour is for everybody, yeah because, the bridge, the engine room
and other parts are open during the whole trip, so that people can just be here, conditions
permitting, so if it's a bit hazing they may want to clear the deck, otherwise you can
just stand up here for two hours if you prefer.
So, this is pretty fascinating, we're about to meet some snowmobilers who are about to
meet us.
After having a chance to tour the ship, passengers are invited to the galley for a three-course
meal.
Soon after lunch, the ship comes to a stop, surrounded by ice in the Gulf of Bothnia,
which is in the northern part of the Baltic Sea. Here, we get an opportunity to take a
dip and swim around in the frozen waters.
Well that's it from the Sampo Icebreaker here in Kemi, Finland. Until next time, we'll see
ya on the road.
