hi everyone I'm Ashley
and today I'm going to talk about two really great products
the first one we have
is tofu shiritaki
the other day I posted an alternate to pasta on my blog
well this week I'm going to talk to you about some already made
products that I've found work really well
This is a tofu product (let me get closer)
and
it has kind of a spaghetti shape style to it
and its found in the cold section at your
grocery store and all you do with this product -made of tofu- is
you drain it, you boil it for a few minutes
and you can put it in a
a skillet or a pan to get the excess fluids out
and then top it with
your sauce or whatever you would do and it's just like pasta
has a very similar consistency to it. It takes little getting used to but I think it
works very similar
The good thing is it's very low in fat, has 20 calories
three carbs and is perfect right now because we are all trying to get in shape
for the summer
The only thing is, this is made of tofu
send people are allergic, like myself, so my husband would eat this
Another product that I just
I was just introduced to is the Miracle Noodles
and that is this. This is the fettuccini version.
You can see it is shirataki pasta.
Guilt free noodles, zero calories, soy free
Gluten free, cholesterol free, vegan
and made in the U.S.A. So this product is great for me
because it does not have soy in it
it's mainly fiber, less than one gram carbs
zero calories and zero fat as well
this whole package same thing you gonna make it
very similar to the other products want to strain it
it is a real liquidy product
you can see it also found in the refrigerator section of your grocery store
I can only find these at Whole Foods
I can find the other product, the Tofu Shirataki,
House Foods, at most grocery stores
actually near the tofu
Same thing, boil them, strain them, they do
have kind of a pungent smell initially but once
once you mix them with a sauce or some
kind of meat you'll get the flavor of the sauce
absorbed. These are good because they also come in a rice texture.
and they are little, tiny balls that look more like couscous then rice
and you can put those in soups
in anything you would use for kind of
a rice or a couscous without all the sugar and carbs
and the refined flour and those kind of things that you're going to get from a pasta
or something like that so
Next week I am going to try and feature
a few recipes and
we'll see how they go. Alright thanks for tuning in and we will see you next week
Bye
