I was a farmer for most of my life. Before that, grew up on a family farm and did that
for a couple years out of college.
I been in the bean business for 34 years, learned a lot over the years. It's my whole
life, and I wouldn't change it for anything.
Every bean is a journey. Homeward bound from the vine in the field to the plate in the
kitchen. Along the way, the dirt and the sun and the sticks and the stones. And through
the gamuts of nature, only the best beans make it home.
We are fortunate to be raising beans in western Nebraska. The panhandle has been known historcally
for having the highest quality beans.
Quality is everything. That's pretty much our reputation. If we can supply a good quality
to the end user, that means everything to them.
It starts at the grower level. The vast majority of our growers understand that we're trying
to provide a superior product and tie ourselves to end-users whether they're domestic or international,
and they strive to bring us a superior product.
The reason Stateline is appealing to me as a farmer is because we have the opportunity
to be on the board and run a bean coop. We see the advantages of growing the beans from
field to finish, to end user.
What makes this close cooperative so successful is because we care from point A to point Z
all the way through the process.
The best beans are a journey into the world with its twists and turns and crazy throws
for a loop.
I grew up on a farm mostly wheat farm. After college I worked on a farm in Wray, Colorado
for four years before I came back home.
But still, the beast beans find their challenge. Still, the best beans find their passion.
I grew up my whole life here. I started farming in 1974, and I still farm today. Most of the
producers in this area, the farms have been in the family forever. And that's the type
of culture that it is: it's friendly, it's a community.
And with the sun and the dirt and the sticks and the stones, the best beans settle in and
find their way home.
What I believe truly differentiates us are our people.
My name is John Mazers. Heath Senkel,
Courtney Schuler. Time Misner.
Dave Dietrich.
Our people truly care about the product we're trying to provide.
It's like a huge family. We're all out to turn out the best product that we can.
Stateline Producers Cooperative. We are the journey.
