Hi. We're pleased to introduce to you
Georgetown's new On- Demand ASL Remote Video Interpretation
for our valued deaf, and hard of hearing patients.
With this new system, ASL interpretation is provided
24/7. Let me show you how it works.
The physician calls the interpreter on this video
cart that can be rolled to any location and can be adjusted.
Hi. This is Terry, ASL interpreter MS0106.
Joe and I work with VRI, Video Remote Interpreting.
When we are busy, the system immediately
connects to Chicago, California or to Purple
Communications ASL Interpreter Closed Network.
Video Remote Interpreting is located in some clinics,
and in our Emergency Department, in the nursing triage area,
and when you are talking with the doctors in the
treatment area. Interpretation is available 24/7.
For inpatient hospital stays, the service will remain at
bedside to provide interpretation whenever it is needed.
You can click the remote at anytime to access a video
interpreter. Now, back to Joe.
Our video interpretation is remote interpreting on a
closed network.
It's not broadcasted or recorded.
This helps Georgetown in the increasing demands and
difficulties of getting in- person interpreters
to meet the emergency and unpredictability of medical
interpretation at our hospital.
In-person interpreters will still be available as needed
or preferred.
Many patients have already told us they love the service.
We'd also like to hear from you.
Please let us know by email whether you'd like the
service for your next appointment,
or, if you wish to see the service when you're next here.
Video carts can be viewed in the Office of Patient
Advocacy, 3rd floor, CCC.
So please, come and take a look. Thank you for
choosing Georgetown. Good bye.
