Bibliophiles of the internet: My name is Adriana, and today I'm here to bring you a Top 5 Wednesday video.
This week's topic is our top 5 books we read in one sitting,
or CLOSE to one sitting.
In other words, our quickest reads.
So without any further ado, let's get into the list.
And for the record, none of these books are in any particular order.
Rounding out my Top 5 is the entire "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series by Rick Riordan.
And just so you know, I didn't feel like holding up the entire box set,
so I just picked out the first one, okay?
I decided to marathon all five of these books last year, I think during the summer BookTube-a-thon,
and I read one book per day, Monday through Friday.
Sometimes, I even had time to start the next book, so I would read MORE than one in one day.
These books are ridiculously easy to get through,
and I remember I breezed through them throughout that week,
and I STILL had ample time to read ten other books,
which is just...INSANE.
The next book I want to talk about is "Major Crush" by Jennifer Echols.
This is low-key one of my favorite books in the entire world.
I love it SO MUCH, because it's a story about a marching band,
and it's so ridiculously authentic and true to that experience.
I found this book when it was first published in 2006,
and I was heading into my freshman year in high school
—so I was in marching band—and when I discovered this,
I devoured it that very same day.
Seriously, it takes me only one or two hours at most to get through this book.
I love it so much! And when I start turning the pages, I can't stop.
I've actually been wanting to re-read this book lately,
so maybe I will do that for scientific purposes,
and that will be a thing that happens.
Next, I want to talk about the entire "Girl of Fire and Thorns" trilogy by Rae Carson.
This is one of my favorite fantasy trilogies of all time,
and I remember being so surprised when I first checked this book out of my library,
because I saw that it was 400 pages, so I figured it would take me about a week to read,
but it flies by so quickly, and before you know it,
you've read 100 pages, 200 pages, 300 pages, oh no you're at the end.
So marathoning through this trilogy was one of the best reading experiences I have ever had,
and in case you couldn't tell, I very highly recommend this trilogy.
Next, I would like to talk about "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" by Jesse Andrews.
This is another one of my favorite YA contemporary books.
I think it's absolutely HILARIOUS, and I had a blast
reading through this one a couple of years ago.
This book is an insanely quick read, not only because Greg's narration
is hilarious AND engaging, but because so many parts of this book
are also written in atypical form. Like in script form,
bullet forms, character studies, etc. etc.
So it really just flies by before you know that it's over, and it's such an enjoyable read. I loved it so much.
And lastly, I would like to talk about "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green.
Believe it or not, "The Fault in Our Stars" was the very first John Green books I ever read,
before I ever knew who John Green was,
or that John Green was JOHN GREEN.
Any way you slice it, as controversial as it may seem, I think John Green's writing style is just captivating
and compelling. From the moment I open up this book
to the first few pages and read about Patrick and the literal heart of Jesus,
I can't stop reading until I've reached the final page.
And there have even been times when I've sat down with this book, just to go through it for quotes,
for, like, book reports or projects or presentations,
and I've ended up reading the entire thing in like one hour.
It's ridiculous.
Honestly, there's just something magnetic about John Green's writing in "The Fault in Our Stars,"
and once I start, I can't stop—that's just how it is.
I unapologetically love John Green. And I'm not saying he's the best guy.
I'm not saying he's the best author.
I'm just saying I appreciate his work. And while there is room for improvement,
I still like what he does.
So these are my Top 5 books that I read in one sitting, or close to one sitting.
Please feel free to leave your thoughts about any of these books if you have read them,
or let me know: What are some of your favorite quick reads, or what was the quickest you've ever read a book?
But that is everything I had for this Top 5 Wednesday video today.
Thank you so much for watching. I really hope that you enjoyed it,
and I will catch YOU on the flip-side of the page.
Bye!
