As I leave with you my testimony of the truth of this great work,
...I don't know that I'll ever pass this way again, I don't know.
But I say that I'm ninety-four years of age next month...that's getting old.
I carry this, keep the flag flying, the Union Jack!
(Laughter)
But...I don't know how long it'll be. Somebody preached my funeral sermon tonight, I'm grateful to them.
(Laughter)
But I want to leave with you my testimony. God our Eternal Father lives. I know that. I know that so very, very well.
Jesus is the Christ. He is my Redeemer, and I know that He lives, I know that.
Without the Atonement, there would be nothing, absolutely nothing. There would be no purpose in life, none whatever.
Because there would not be immortality, we would be meaningless. The whole Earth would be frustrated.
I know that. I know that God the Father and the risen Lord appeared to the boy Joseph Smith, that Joseph was a prophet.
No-one - the more I read, the more of his writings, the more certain I am
...that he never in all this Earth could have produced it of his own capacity.
He was inspired of the Almighty, in that which he does,
...and the revelations contained in this book are the word of God to this people.
I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and that anyone who reads it in faith will gain a testimony of that truth.
I know that this is the Church of our Lord and Master, whose name it carries, and I am so grateful.
Thanks for being so kind to me, all you people have shown such love. I wish I could...
I just wish I could go around this large congregation and shake the hands of every one of you, embrace you.
But I can't do it. I have a security man. He places restrictions on me. I'm not a free agent any more!
(Laughter)
That's what I'd like to do. Sister Trebilko, I want to thank you for the wonderful music of this great choir.
Where's your husband? Is he sitting here, yeah there he is. Hello Peter. Glad to see you, wonderful.
Well, all I can say is I love you. I've loved you for a long, long time.
For more than seventy years I've had a love in my heart,
for the strong hearted, wonderful people of this part of the world.
I've been on every continent, I've spoken in many, many nations, but somehow I carry in my heart a special love...
...for the people among whom I walked as a young man...
(Silence)
...so very, very long ago. I know it isn't, it isn't British to tear up, the tough old Brits like to hide their tears.
(Silence)
God bless you, and your families, and your posterity after you, that they may walk in faith...
...and spread the truth to many, many more, in this Sceptred Isle, this great and favoured part of the Earth...
...is my humble prayer, in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
[Congregation] Amen
