Welcome to Desire2Learn.
If you've never used D2L before, please pay attention for the next few minutes as we go
through some of the important features.
If you have any experience using a computer, computer software, or even using the internet
- you should find the Desire2Learn interface very easy to use.
The first thing you'll notice is a number of links up at the top. This is what we call
the Navigation Bar. You see Course Home, Content, Discussions, and all the other tools of D2L.
As you continue through e-learn, you'll learn what all of these different tools do. Every
link you click on, and every page you go to has the same navigation bar at the top, so
you need to become familair with these tools.
Like with many websites, when you're looking for information, you'll want to look across
the top, as well as on the side.
On this page, you can see there's updates on the side, information about your discussions,
feedback from your teacher, your email - some help buttons - and information about
any upcoming events.
The main item you'll see when you first log in is a newsitem
This one is a welcome message from your e-learn instructor. It has information about your
teacher's name, and will include their picture as well.
It's important to know who your instructor is, in case you have any questions.
The instructions tell you to: First: Read the Introduction, Complete the Assignments
and finally, check your final grade.
Step one tells you to click on "Content" in the upper navigation bar to get started. Content
will take you to all of the information you need to complete your assignments one by one.
Later on, you'll learn how to post a discussion, how to use Elluminate to communicate with
your teacher, what the classlist is for, how to upload an assignment using the dropbox.
You'll have the chance to write a few quizzes, and then check the grades tool for your marks
and feedback from your teacher. You'll learn how to use the checklist to stay on top of
your work, and finally, you'll begin to use the e-Portfolio as a profile and planning
tool.
If at any time you want to return to this homepage, simply click on "Course Home" and
you'll come right back to the start.
If you click on the CBe-learn icon, you'll be taken back to the D2L homepage where you'll
be able to access all of your courses.
If you have any problems, or if you get stuck, you can always return to the course homepage
and review this video. You can also access a help discussion by clicking on the tab.
It's time to get started. Welcome to online learning at CBe-learn.
