Hi, my name is Kristen Shaver, I'm 25 years old, and I'm going to be graduating
from the School of Nursing at San Diego State University in a week.
Over this past Spring i had the opportunity to go to China because of the
international requirement which was the best experience of my life. I got to go to
several hospitals... I got to see the Great Wall of China,
Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Ming Tombs, and culturally it was an amazing
opportunity. I got to go to the biggest pharmacy in China which is in Beijing
and see the differences between China and America which is that they use a lot
more traditional medicine, herbal medicine, and we use more pharmacological
means. I also got to go to Switzerland over this past summer as another opportunity and
then it was more focused on nursing. I got to go for a month
and i traveled with other U.S. students, also Swiss students,
Singapore students, and Indian students, so it was awesome culturally. We went to
class Monday through Friday
uh... learned about their cultures and their medicine and where
they're from and we also got to work in the hospitals, so it was a fantastic opportunity
and i really recommend it
