Hi! My name is Adria. I am a professional juggler here at Expert Village.com. We are
going to learn how to juggle scarfs. We just had a little introduction about scarfs, so
take a look at that before you actually try to juggle them. Remember we are not throwing
them in the air, because they would not go very high and they would not go very far;
we throw balls in the air. We are going to use our whole arm with the scarf and we are
going to lift in a cross pattern across our face to the other side of the body and drop.
Now, if you refer back to Stephen Bent’s video on how to begin juggle with one ball,
two ball and three ball; he taught you to keep your arms at your waist. Same thing holds
true with scarfs. You are using your whole arm to lift the scarf to operate in front
of you, but see I still have my hand out by my waist to catch. So lift and catch… lift
and catch…lift and drop look how far that goes, lift, drop and catch. That is the basic
movement for one scarf. This is instead of throwing the balls up the center of our body;
we are lifting them across the mid line of our body. We are going to workup to a three
scarf cascade. Now, we pick up our second scarf. Just like with the balls, we do not
want them to go at the same time. So its lift, lift, drop, drop, lift drop, lift drop, one,
two. As your hand is coming down from dropping the second scarf, you can easily grab the
first scarf. You see how slowly they fall. It is lot of forgiveness there and there is
plenty of time to catch. One drop, two drop, catch. One drop, two drop catch. One drop,
two drop catch just like with the balls. The hand you catch with first is the hand you
then have to start with. Up drop, catch drop. Up drop, up catch drop. Up drop, up catch
drop. Let’s try that again up drop catch because you remember we drop before we catch,
up like that and feel free to pause once you have the two scarfs in your hand because that’s
were the third scarf is going to go and we will look at that in the segment three scarf
cascade.
