Hi there, I'm Danielle from High Street Mama
where we like to keep our pregnant people
looking very stylish. And I'd like to
show you a couple of different ways
with a dress today. Because when you
buy a dress, pregnant or not pregnant,
you tend to just wear it one way and you
think it wasn't really that good value.
Perhaps I should have gone with a skirt
and a top or something that I can mix and match.
But a dress could actually be a really
versatile piece in your wardrobe. I'd like
to introduce you to Paige.
She's my assistant today.
She's about six foot, bald and made from
plastic so I figured if I can make Paige
look good, then I'm sure you're going to look fabulous.
This dress today is the Me-a-Mama Jackie
O Dress and it's in a very modern open
lace pattern with a flesh colored slip underneath.
When you think dress, you probably think
much like what Paige is wearing right now.
You've got your pearls, you've got your
earrings on, really add some bling.
This sort of look is perfect for a
night out at the theatre, maybe a friend's
wedding, cocktail party, engagement party,
some kind of event where you really
want to look a little bit special.
And of course with a dress you can
add your own pashmina or if you've got a
wrap if it's a bit cooler, just to give
yourself a bit of extra warmth.
And there you have a very stylish
look for your first look with your dress.
Okay and this is the second look.
This is where I'm actually using
the dress like a skirt. So we've added the
Crave ruffled front white blouse and
I really like this blouse because it's
not just your average white blouse,
I think these ruffled details through
the chest gives it something a little
bit different, it's a little bit dressier
than just a plain white shirt and you
will get so much wear out of a white shirt.
These go from weekend with jeans to
night out with lots of great jewelry,
black pants to more of, what I would
call here possibly a bit of an office
look or somewhere at -- more a day
time look than what you'd normally
associate with lace. But because it's
just in the bottom half, now the lace
is just a skirt and the shirt is much
more in cotton saying day, with this
brown belt. I think you'll find lots of
different occasions to wear this one.
I've added a scarf here for Paige now
to give it a bit of a corporate look but
you can also go with some beads
certainly in red or bright yellows or
just some bright colors in general are
going to be very big this summer as
we're totally on trend with that. And
if you do go with a belt, I would advise
maybe a brown belt or something in
that tone with some matching shoes
just to give it a slightly more
day time feel with the lace.
Okay this is our last look. We've got now
Paige in JoJo Maman four-in-one cardigan
which is in a navy and white stripe.
This is actually a really fantastic cardigan.
You'll be able to get heaps of wear out of this
both while you're pregnant and afterwards
and I actually have quite a few customers
but this who are not, in fact, pregnant.
Why it's four-in-one.. let me get to that in a
minute. What we've got here is
what we were talking about before is that
pop of colour and bright yellow,
yellows are going to be really big
again in spring and summer so that's
definitely a way to go here. We've
got the lace dress again just as a
skirt and it's a bit more of a casual
look, this cardigan itself because of
sort of its soft draped lines, does say
more casual. We've just layered it
over the white blouse that Paige was
wearing before. But of course if you
didn't want that extra layer you
could just take that off. Why this is
called a four-in-one cardigan is that
there is four different ways you can
wear the cardigan. It has two buttons on
either shoulder so that you can
wear that up, wear it down. Undo this
button and it's a much more open, open
line cardigan like that and of course you
can undo it completely and just have
it as a loose draping piece, almost a bit
cape-ish in that regard.
So there you have it, there's lots of
different ways you can wear your dresses.
I think it's just a matter of having a
play and being a little bit open to
experimenting with looks. When you
find something that you like then I often
take just a little photo of it and it
reminds me next time that I'm
standing in front of the cupboard thinking
"Oh what will I wear?", then I've got a
little book of inspiration or couple of little
photos I can flick through and say
"oh that's right. That looked really good with that".
But basically just have a play,
when you do get a dress,
think of all the different ways that you
can wear it so you can really getting the
best value for your money with everything
you've got in your wardrobe and
particularly a maternity wardrobe
because you don't want an enormous
wardrobe given the length of time
that you'll be wearing it. What you
want to look for is things that are
versatile, things that you will be able
to wear afterwards, and things that would
just make you feel really good about
yourself. So pop on to the website
www.highstreetmama.com.au and have a look
around there. All these items are available
on our website and there is more information.
And definitely let me know your feedback.
Send me an email or drop us a line on
Facebook or comment below. We'll read all of
them and we'll try in incorporate those
into future videos to answer whatever
styling hassles you're trying to solve.
I hope it has inspire you to go back
to your cupboard and see some pieces with
fresh eyes thinking "Gosh I could
wear that with that and I've got a whole
new look" or whatever it is. It's all about
having fun, feeling good about yourself,
getting the most out of your wardrobe.
So until next time, stay safe and
we'll see you soon. Thank you.
