There was an amusing parlour game often played
by the Surrealist artists in the early 19th century.
It was a creative game that they called “The Exquisite Corpse”.
One person began by drawing a head at the top of a page
and then folded the paper, the next person drew the torso,
and the next the legs, and then finally the feet.
When the completed image was finally unfolded
a fascinating artwork emerged, of a fantastical being.
This cumulative process reflected the diversity of the artists,
it reflected each person’s unique imagination
and it also reflected their own unique drawing and artistic style.
So, everybody’s different in their own way,
you know what I mean, gee?
Dat’s we are all unique!
Dat you can’t judge one just ‘cause he’s different,
‘cause you’re different too, you know.
Just, maybe not quite as different as me!
