Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is visiting Australia
New Zealand and the Pacific islands this week,
all with one mission- to highlight the need to combat climate change.
In the island nation of Kiribati, the Secretary General met with locals,
and saw for himself the damage that rising tides have done.
Now was the time for action, he said.
Speaking later to a group of young people at Auckland University in New Zealand,
he said that the world's newest generation would be key in the fight against climate change.
"You are the most potent force to hold leaders to account,
to transform your communities, and to build a better world."
