Where are you going? -To the sports centre "salesianos"
With whom? - with them and the teacher
Well, my name is Larissa, I am 20 years old.
I'm from Curitiba - Brasil. I am here since 3 weeks, doing a volunteer job in Cusco, Peru.
I am working in 2 projects: the first is in Madre Teresa, with disabled children. I do this in the mornings.
The other is Colibri project, where I am know. I do this in the afternoons.
In Colibri project are children who help their parents with their work.
In their leisure time they go to the project to play and have fun.
They have a place where we play and talk with them.
My experience as a volunteer is very good.
You can live in the Peruvian culture, and also do touristic activities.
You see more the social part of living here.
You get to know the people better. It’s not just the touristic part.
You learn the language.
I am living in a host family. Which gives the opportunity to learn about the food, meet people.
I am also having Charango Classes.
This is a typical instrument from the Andes.
I have learned a lot about the culture and the music from here.
I also made new friends, which I think is important to have a nice time and know other places.
To go to the projects I can walk or take the bus.
Taking the bus in Peru is a very fun experience!
It’s like: ‘get off, get off!!’, ‘go on, go on!’. It’s very funny!
Also walking is nice, the views of the mountains are great.
I think it is important to do volunteering.
Besides getting to know another country it is a way to open your mind and help the people.
