DREW NOAH: So, now, I'm just going to go through the iTunes Preferences. I've gone through
some of these already as we've been going but I'll just give you an overview of what
they are. So, remember for PC: Edit, Preferences. For Mac: iTunes and then Preferences and here
they are. Under the 'General' tab, I can change the text size over here and my song text right
here from small to large right here. And then, I have this option to show--and this is basically
what I'm showing under my library heading right here. And I could--if I had audiobooks,
I'll probably add that. If I had--if I didn't have any movies, I might take it off. It gives
me a little warning. Show genre when browsing, that little browser window I showed you. Right
here, I can choose to turn the 'Genre off' so now it's just the 'Artists' and 'Album'.
And I have group compilations when browsing. Show links to the iTunes Store. Sometimes,
you'll see this little arrow right here that just--is linking contents to the iTunes Store.
Show content ratings in library; for example, like TV 14 or whatever. Automatically download
missing album artwork, if you like the album artwork, you probably want to leave this checked.
Remember view setting for each source. So, that means I can set a view setting for each
individual playlist or whatever and it will be different every time like, if I take out
the time on my music library, it's still going to be there on these other playlists. I'm
actually going to turn that off 'cause I like to update it and have it be the same for everything.
My shared name, Check for updates automatically, checked. I already showed you podcasts settings.
Just again, Check on your episodes, you can set that. What action when new episodes are
available, you can set that and then how to--what to do with all the episodes you have. Here
are your playback settings, crossfade, when you go from one side to the other, you can
choose to crossfade it like five seconds. So, the song you're listening to will fade
out while the other song fades in. Sound enhancer, you want to check, see what that sounds like
on your system, you can play with that. Sound check automatically adjusts song playback
volume to the same level. Some options, if you want to play movies and TVs in the iTunes
window or in different settings like full screen, same with music videos. You can choose
your audio language, subtitle language. Keep movie window on top of all other windows,
show closed captioning when available. This is all just kind of little stuff that if you
need you can turn on. Then, there's the smart shuffle option. Random is completely random
and if you put it on less likely, that means it's less likely to play songs from the same
artist in a row. But true random is not like that so I like to leave it on true random
and then you can shuffle songs, albums or groupings. Next step is sharing. You can actually
share your iTunes library over a network when available and see other people that are sharing
as well. So, if you like to share, just go ahead and turn it on. And then you could share
the entire library or share a specific playlist. It also require a password, if you want. Some
preferences for the store, buy and download using one click or using a shopping cart.
Automatically download prepurchase content, like when you buy a season pass for TV. Automatically
create playlist when buying song collections. Load complete preview before playing, just
a few random things. I already went through most of the advanced settings. These are some
of the most important settings that--I told you about the import and burning settings.
I'll just look into 'General'. I like to leave on, keep iTunes music folder organized 'cause
I like iTunes to organize the folders--my music for me because it already does a good
job and that's also why I like them to make a copy of the music when I add music into
their organization system. You can use iTunes for internet music playback. That sets the
streaming, buffer size. Some stuff with air tunes and air port if you have that. You can
choose to keep the mini player on top of all other windows. And the visualizer which I
really didn't go into but I can show in a minute. And here you have 'Parental Control'--if
you want to use them, this is important, obviously. So, you can disable certain things like podcasts,
radio, the iTunes store and shared libraries. You can also restrict movie and TV shows,
if you leave the store on, you can restrict them to certain settings here or certain rating.
So, PG-13 means they can go PG-13 and below. PG means they can go only PG and G. So, you
can get how that works. You can do with the same thing with TV. And you can also restrict
explicit content and to lock the parental control, once you set them how you want them,
you'll then want to lock them and it will ask for your computer password and then it
will be locked from your child and you can--you're the only person who'd be able to unlock them
with your password and then set them again. If you did have an apple TV this is where
you could set up settings with that and with the iPhone as well. So, those are the iPod
settings, actually they call it the 'Preferences'.
