Jyco Sealing Technologies, an 11-year-old world leader in rubber weather sealing solutions
for automotive, heavy truck and RV industries, is based in Dexter, Michigan. The Mexican
manufacturing facility opened in October, 2006 and within two years had shipped its
millionth part while achieving a world-class scrap rate of only 10 PPM.
Jyco Sealing Technologies’ management includes the industry’s leading innovators and experts
in automotive door seals design, engineering and manufacturing. Jyco has already gone through
two major Mexican manufacturing expansions at its Guaymas, Sonora facility and plans
a third. Product line includes slide out seals, bulb seals, gap hiders, close out glass seals
and cargo door seals.
The 18,000 SF plant, ISO/TS16949 certified, supplies TPV sealing systems to assembly plants
throughout Latin America, and is supported by on-site sales and engineering. Many of
Jyco’s industry-standard innovations – such as the multi-durometer extruding and robotic
assembly – have come from the company’s leadership role in the automotive rubber door
seals industry. Today, the supremacy of JyBond and Jyco’s TPV rubber sealing expertise,
offers bumper-to-bumper sealing technology for every type of vehicle.
Virtually all workers are at “U” stations allowing maximum use of personnel at multiple
stations, staffing extruding lines and molding stations where they produce glass run-channels
and lower door, sunroof and secondary seals. Material used for automotive door seals is
thermoplastic vulcanite, fully cured in plastic matrix. The processes make the material behave
like rubber.
No inventory is accumulated at this just-in-time Mexico manufacturing facility. After a final
inspection is conducted, goods are dispatched to Toluca, Mexico and elsewhere.
From Jyco Sealing Technologies, Mexico’s inception in 2000, the company structured
its manufacturing operations around state-of-the-art TPV rubber seal processing equipment and,
by doing so; it avoided the expense, transitional problems and retooling that other sealing
suppliers face in adapting EPDM systems to processing. As a result, customers enjoy benefits
in responsiveness, reliability, and cost control.
The company’s proprietary TPV compound, JyFlex, outperform traditional EPDM seals
in many areas, and offers eco-friendly advantages as well.
The environmentally-friendly features of Jyco TPV products have given the company a prominent
place in the manufacture of a number of hybrid and electric vehicles. Jyco Sealing Technologies
takes a “green” approach to its all of its plants, seeking to assure the new plants,
renovations and expansions meet the Green Building Rating System and standards of Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED. This policy applies to all Jyco facilities
including offshore nations where strict environmental standards do not apply.
