-And ready?
-Yeah
-Feeling good?
Yeah. Go for it.
I have been given the best job in football.
I'm going to be travelling all over Europe following the Champions League
And in every single city I go to, I'm going to become a fan of the home team.
Hey there, I'm Tom Deacon, the Eurofan, welcome along to the third installment of my adventure. I've been to Malaga
I've been to Cluj and Romania and now I am in Istanbul, Turkey.
The usual jobs I have to do are get a football, meet the local people and understand what it is to be a Galatasaray fan,
but most importantly I need to give out my Southampton football shirt. As you can see it's got Copa90 on the back.
I need to find someone who will help me along in my journey today. So let's get looking...
Ok, so I'm right now outside the Grand Bazaar- one of the biggest shopping markets in the whole wide world.
I'm going to get inside there and get my hands on a Galatasaray football.
And I've just been told, the most recent James Bond film 'Skyfall' was filmed here.
So actually some of these guys walking around are old extras... Including this guy here.
You know when you're a proper fan when you have your tattoo to the arm. Look at that bad boy. If I'm to be a Galatasaray fan do I need to get a tattoo?
-Yeah
-Yep? Ok, Freddie Mercury says I need to get myself a tattoo.
-This is my first time in Turkey.
-Welcome to our country.
-It's a pleasure.
Trying to get my hands on a football here in the Grand Bazaar market, but all there seems to be is jewellery shop after jewellery shop.
-Do I look like a Galatasaray fan?
-Maybe, you can...
-Look at that. That's the one. How much?
-This one, 25.
-25?
-For you, this one 15, it's ok.
-15? We have got ourselves a deal. Done.
-No problem my friend.
-I hear you're not a Galatasaray fan?
-Ok, this is going to be difficult. I've never been to Turkey to watch a football game. So what have I got in store?
-I'm in my Galatasaray kit, still haven't got a football. But what I have done is met a very important player
who used to play for Galatasaray and is now an assistant coach of the Turkey national team.
Okan Buruk, pleasure to meet you.
-So, I am a Galatasaray fan for 24 hours. You played for Galatasaray, they are good fans, right?
-I used to play a game called Championship Manager, and I used to play a lot. And you, when you used to play for Inter, you scored a goal so I won the League Cup.
So I never met you, so this is a beautiful, so thank you so much. Thank you.
Each place I go to, I give someone a Southampton shirt, and I give it to someone who is kind of the ultimate fan.
Do you have any tips for how I can find that person?
Alright, I have got my Galatasaray football. It is time to find some fans and have a kick about.
-I bumped into Gunjay here who, um, took me to this little area which is apparently, well I won't say, Gunjay will tell.
-What is this?
-This is where the club, the football club, was founded.
It's the high school, called Galatasaray high school. So from 1905 the team was founded here.
-So we?
-Yeah, you should cry now.
-A little tear.
*singing*
-And now they are saying "those who don't stand up become a Fenerbahce fan"
-I'm standing up
-Yeah, so you're a Galatasaray fan
-i'm standing up
*singing*
-Galatasaray
-Galatasaray
*singing*
*crowd chanting*
-What can you tell us about the Ultraslan, the ultra fans?
-They used to be in the main stand in this old stadium, but now they are behind the goal.
They are very loud, they are very organised. They are not only in Istanbul but all over Turkey and all over Europe.
All over the world they are very organised. This street is also special because this is where the old stadium was.
-I have a ticket to sit with the fans in the stadium
-Ok
-Or I can sit in a box with the guys with the suits. Which one would you take?
-Me? I'd go to the box.
This is how to watch football- wow.
*crowd singing*
It's not good, Cluj just scored.
Cluj are down to 10 men. Galatasaray have got the man advantage, they are still one nil down though.
Galatasaray have just got a penalty. This should be interesting...
Felipe Melo to take...
Just got saved. Not good.
Going to give this a whirl. It's very good.I just wish Galatasaray where winning.
I forgot. I wasn't wearing my lucky scarf. It's my Galatasaray scarf, the game should change now. Here we go, second half.
It's one all.
So it's all over. Cluj held out, it finished one all. It means Galatasaray have a point and I didn't see them win. Nightmare.
Alright, so I've just arrived back in London from Istanbul, Turkey, where I had the ultimate fan experience following Galatasaray.
Their fans are incredibly loud, their fans are incredibly proud of their team
and they are extremely passionate about their football. It's just a real shame it finished one all in the end.
Oh, and if you're wondering who I gave my Southampton football shirt to, then it could only be one person.
This man has a)made me laugh, b)helped me out in my Championship Manager game for winning Inter. He's still laughing about that.
He played just behind Ronaldinho. Anyway, too much information. I have decided, Okan, because you have a great help and shown us around this place as well,
I'd like to present you with my Southampton football kit. It has Copa90 on the back there.
-Okan, thank you very much, pleasure to meet you.
-Thank you.
-Oh, you are too kind.
-This is Turkish national team
-That's amazing.
-It is for you
-Where would you put this?
-I will put with my collection.
-Ok, your collection.
-I have a shirt collection.
-Just in a draw.
So there you have it, job done.
I gave him the shirt to Okan Buruk, what a legend he was.
So stayed tuned to the adventures of The Eurofan.
Subscribe now to Copa90 to find out where I'm heading to next. See you soon.
-Subscribe to Copa90.
-Smashed it.
