Hi, my name is Kevin Smullin and I am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and I help people
change their behaviors.
This video is about how to lose weight in 1 month. A recent client of mine lost 18 pounds
in the last month and I want to share with you some of the secrets I have taught her
about reprogramming her mind and changing the way she thinks to accomplish whatever
it is she wants.
Now in order to lose the weight that you want, you have to change your behavior. What you
need to realize is that you don't ever do something without thinking about it first.
So the real key to changing behavior is to change the way you think and that is what
this video is going to do is it is going to help you challenge and change some of those
thoughts that are going on that are keeping you doing the same thing you have always been
doing.
You want to realize that the thinking patterns of people that are overweight and people that
are skinny are two very different thoughts. So for the person over here that is skinny,
their predominant thought is "I can eat whatever I want and it really doesn't matter. It is
not going to change anything." Versus the person over here who is overweight, their
predominant thought is "I am going to gain 5 pounds just by looking at it." So their
dominant thought is creating their reality. So the real trick to changing people is we
want to change what that dominant thought is. Cause we have so much negative programming
in our life especially in the area of food.
So let me give you an example from my own life. My parents would tell us kids that in
order for us to eat dessert, we had to finish everything on our plate. So the messaging
they gave us was, in order to earn the privilege of eating more (which was dessert), we had
to eat more. So we had to eat more to be able to eat more. Ya, that really doesn't make
sense when you put it into that kind of context. But see these are the kinds of programming
things that we need to change about the way that we think. We are programmed that we have
to eat everything and that is a huge huge problem when it comes to losing weight.
The other one that my parents would tell us all the time is that there are starving kids
in (whatever country) Ethiopia was the one they always used. I don't know why. But they
always said there were starving kids in Ethiopia that would love to have the food that you
have so you have to finish everything because you are not going to waste it. Right? That
was the message: You are not going to waste it. Well, the truth is food is nothing more
than fuel for the body. That is all it does is refuel the body. So once I have filled
up my tank so to speak with what I need energy wise, then food really serves no further purpose
at that point. So just like I would never overfill the gas tank in my car, I should
never overfill my body with food because that is all it is. So when we understand that concept
and we understand the truth, we start breaking this negative programming we have had all
of our lives.
So with these two examples I have given you, again the programming is that you have to
eat, you have to finish everything on your plate and that is what we see all the time
is people that are just like I have to eat because it is in front of me. Maybe you have
had those experiences where you just feel like you cannot control yourself, there is
food in front of you, you gotta have it, it looks great and it is like Wow, I am going
to eat.
So I want to give you a tool that will help you change that programming and give you more
control over that impulse to eat. So what I want you to do, is any time you sit down
to have a meal, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner, it doesn't matter. Any time you
sit down to eat, I want you to leave something on your plate just to intentionally break
that habit of I have to eat everything, I have to eat everything. So it doesn't matter
whether it is one bite, or whether it is a small portion of the meal, it doesn't matter
what it is. But I want you to use that trigger, that concept of I am leaving something on
my plate because that shows that I am in control of food, food doesn't control me. And when
I have that kind of programming, that kind of mental trigger for both my conscious and
subconscious minds of seeing that food and recognizing, hey, I am in control, I am the
one making the choices, I don't have to eat everything because it is not about food, it
is about fuel.
So take that tool, use that impulse control, do that over the next week or so every time
you sit down to eat a meal, just leave something on the plate and it is that prompt that says
yep, I am in control, I am making choices, I don't have to do what I have always done.
And it is a very powerful tool.
Now this is the first in a series of four videos about reprogramming the mind because
this is one of the things that I get the most comments from clients about is how do I reprogram
myself and these are the changes I need to make. So over these next four videos, this
is part one of four, I am going to be giving you other tools and other ways to reprogram
your mind so that you can have those behavioral changes that you want and again being able
to lose weight in 1 month. Again, my top client, she has lost 18 pounds over the last month
and it hasn't been because of any exercise or really any change in diet. It has just
been a change in the way that she thinks which is changing her behaviors and the way that
she acts.
